I am really sorry to even post this but do feel a complete loss of community from the latest changes to 1x and not the new web site. I am sure there is a great financial need for the site but to have just gone completly from its base, to so called high end photographers who have a image awarded every day even though some of the images are 50 years old this has effected the feel to the site.
Extremly dissapointed by the site now and the excitement of getting an image published has gone as this means very little. But still love the quality and insperation of the site. I have to say loved the old 1x and even when my images were not published as this meant that they were not good enough. Still an amazing photography website the best there is, and I will be still supporting and posting and hoping for a improvement in the new site to get back what we had before.

Colin I to feel I've lost that intimate connection I had with 1x.com. Every morning I would love to see what was published overnight and leave comments. I no longer have that urge. What hapened to that special bond with people and photographers...

I admit that the new design is quite nice but everything else is not. I am unhappy about a lot of things and I do not think I will renew my paid account once it runs out.
It's sad to see that I personally have lost the feeling of use that I had with the Classic version. I also get bored of browsing the Gallery because the photos don't resize in the browser but force me to scroll through the image. I think it's absurd. This was something I reported months ago, but nothing has changed.
Another flaw: I can't open the various images in multiple browser tabs.
I'm also unhappy with the Critique and Tutorial sections, considering I signed up for paid memberships to learn. But with the new version of 1x I don't find the Critique section usable and the Tutorials seem non-existent.
Yes, of course aesthetically the new site is cool but I'm rarely there because I do not find it very usable. The question of whether or not to renew the paid subscription at the end of August comes up again.
Greetings.
Maxime
I feel the same, already canceled my automatic subscription renewal.
To the site owners... please don't forget we are your end customers, not your test users.

Hello Maxime,
The critique forum was transferred over to the new platform, you can find it as Top entry in 'forum's. It's not yet an exact copy of the former forum, but my team is there to help, like before.
Best regards,
Mike - head senior critic

Hi Colin,
the invitation program of the 1X ambassadors aims on increasing the diversity of the photographs in the gallery. I was very proud that Gered Mankowitz FRPS accepted my invitation to upload 20 images from his portfolio which has grown over a period of more than four decades and contains really iconic photos although some of them are more than 50 years old. You will understand that such a photographer does not want his photos evaluated by 1X members and they decide if they are good enough to be published and awarded or not. So they were published and awarded without member curation. We showed every three days (NOT everyday) one of his images in the flow of awarded images. It took about two months to show all 20 images. I remember times when Hans-Wolfgang (who liked your post) had a lot more than 20 images published and awarded within two months.
So, please don't worry and don't complain, be thankful when an iconic photographer accepts the invitation of an 1X ambassador.
Good light, Hans-Martin
Hans . I am not complaining loved his images I have some of them on Album covers. I am a amature and the feeling I got from the old 1x was a progression in my work through the feeling of a community and the joy of being published as I will never be a professional photographer. Ok I understand the site has changed just saying not good for us who are not the 1x ambassadors, as very few people now see our images as they are ranked as second class only published. My last image got 89% and 91% from the expert curators approval but still only published and on the new site that means nothing to be fair, as no one sees it.
Also dont worry i wont be leaving the site as I love the insperation it gives me I have now resolved myself that my images will not get awarded. But my biggest issue is the loss of a community and the overhaul feeling of the old site and curation process which is now so slow I think it will take me to 2023 even to get through my current workflow. As a pro subscriber what happenned to "When you become a PRO member you can upload 20 photos to the curators every week" I can currently upload one every 8 days sp will take 6 months to upload and have 20 photos currated.
Cheers

Dear Colin,
the new version (gamma) does not affect the quality and the visiblity of your work. At least that's what I think. You're a member since 2014, in your portfolio there are 365 images from which about a half are published in the gallery. As it is the case since long time, non published images gain few attention, most of them receive no single comment. So, that's not a new issue.
Now we have three categories instead of two catgories in the past: 1. published and awarded, 2. published, 3. not selected. You can create exhibitions with all images of the first two categories, so you can try to get attention to the non awarded photos even if they were not recognized by other members so far. It's no issue of the 1X management to influence members to scroll through the "only" published images, it's an issue of the members. When they don't do it, I can't help. If they like to have a look only at the awarded images and leave comments there, it's their own decision. I don't want to judge this behavior.
About the 20 images per week: I don't think that the average curation time is 8 days. But that depends on the quality of the image and the behavior of the curating members. If there are not many members who are voting, it can take longer than two or three days until the final decision about "published" or "not selected".
By the way, the main goal for the 1X photographer should not be to concentrate on maximizing the number of published and awarded images but to deal with and enjoy all the offers the website makes to the member or the visitor. There are the articles in the magazine which are worth reading, there is the learning section with hundreds of tutorials, there is the personal homepage, and there is the upcoming feature of exhibitions (probably starting in August 2021). So, there are a lot of interesting issues.
Last but not least: There are many profiles of 1X members with hundreds of awarded photos which are extremely boring. No system, no albums, only an unorganized flood of images, no incentive for a visitor to stay longer in that profile.
I hope, this helps a little.
Kind Regards, Hans-Martin
Thank you Hans. But lets agree to disagree the curation is taking around 6 to 8 days for me anyway. As your message says the unpublished images previously had little or no interaction unless they were people you follow as I can see there is no follow on the new site. So that is the same but I would say it feels like the published images are now the unpublished. But i will still be around as I say it is still a inserational web site. The most important thing is the quality of the work and that everything is currated !!!!! One last point still dont understand the curation. Today one artist had three images Published in sucsession but I can only post one at a time how is this possible????

Colin, it seems that the three images published in a row belong to an invited artist. These photos are immediately automatically published after uploading. Then they pass through to the head curators who decide if they are aditionally awarded.

Colin, one additional remark about length in curation. As a website operator you have two possibilities. Either you fix a number of votes which must be reached before a decision is taken or you define a time frame after which the decision is taken.
Both have advantages and disadvantages.
If you fix a minimum number of votes it really can take a long time.
If you set a time frame, you possibly have to make a decision with a very small evaluation base.
An example:
In the beginning of the year 2021 I opened an account at 100asa.com. I don't like to be active on many platforms, I'm with 1X since 2013 where I show most of my photos. The reason for opening an account on 100asa.com was to learn in detail how the platform works.
The result was the following:
They have four types of galleries, ELITE, PRIME, UPCOMING and OPENING.
Depending on member curation each image is finally shown in one of the four galleries with ELITE as the highest quality. Feel free to consider the OPENING gallery as the gallery for garbage.
Member curators are organized in six levels: CURATOR, MASTER, GURU, STUDENT, SCHOLAR and USER (curator is highest level, user is lowest level of expertise)
Images stay exactly three days in curation.
The result for three of my test images:
1. 39 votes, thereof 15 votes by users (lowest level), 3 votes by scholars, 12 votes by students, 3 votes by Gurus, 6 votes by masters and no single vote by a curator. Result: OPENING Gallery (garbage).
2. 21 votes, thereof 6 votes by scholars, 12 votes by students, 3 votes by masters and no single vote by a curator. Result: OPENING Gallery (garbage).
3. 12 votes, thereof 6 votes by scholars, 6 votes by students and no single vote by a curator. Result: OPENING Gallery (garbage).
Two of these three images were published and awarded by 1X and were additionally internationally awarded, at 100asa.com you can find them in the garbage gallery.
Interesting is that many of the images in the ELITE and PRIME Gallery are images by the curators themselves.
Feel free to judge this.

I seriously doubt that the 3 or 4 variants on pictures submitted for curation are coming from an invited photographer. If one is spending more than 30 minutes curating one can stumble upon plenty of pictures showing same subject or idea. How is it possible for any member to submit more than one image for curation? Please respond.

Sorry was going to leave this but the answers coming back mean the scratch has been itched. Last week I posted on Sunday. Image got rejected the following Sunday so 7 days, the same every time not 3 days!!!!!!! Also as for getting Awarded. This now is a once in a blue moon for most of us because as we have learned from this thread. Amabasdors get published imeadeatly not currated. Also a chosen few get awarded by the top curators without the rest of us mear mortals like me?? . Over the last 24 hours not an ambasador but a 1x photographer who by the way i hugely admire and am in love with his work(he was and is on my favorite list on the old 1x) has had 6 images awarded. While I again sent a image to curation on Sunday and will get a curation next Sunday. Sorry not winging just hate the non facts on this subject.
Sorry to hear this, Colin. Nevertheless I think that this is not the rule but the exception. Jacob's goal is that that a decision about an image to be published does not take longer than 2-3 days. About the curation process you can read the FAQ section and an article in the magazine.
https://1x.com/about/faq
https://1x.com/magazine/permalink/9176
No, Colin, definitely NO ! Ambassadors' tasks are to invite famous photographers to join 1X to show a cross section of their works in the 1X gallery. These images are immediately published after upload.
Images by ambassadors themselves are going through the normal curation process, the latest result about an image that I sent to curation was "not selected".
That's possible but I would see this as an exception.
Assumption:
Day 1: upload image 1, decision publish on day 3 (2 days member curation time), image passed over to the head curators to get evetually awarded.
Day 3: upload image 2, decision publish on day 5 (2 days member curation time), image passed over to the head curators to get evetually awarded.
Day 6: upload image 3, decision publish on day 8 (3 days member curation time), image passed over to the head curators to get evetually awarded.
Day 8: upload image 4, decision publish on day 10 (2 days member curation time), image passed over to the head curators to get evetually awarded.
Day 10: upload image 5, decision publish on day 12 (2 days member curation time), image passed over to the head curators to get evetually awarded.
Day 12: upload image 6, decision publish on day 14 (2 days member curation time), image passed over to the head curators to get evetually awarded.
On day 14 the head curators decide to award all six images.
Hope that helps.
Good light, Hans-Martin
Thank you Hans let us just leave this now but not an execption every one of my Curations since the change to the new site has taken at least 6 up to 8 days.
But really going to forget this now and just contribute what I can.
Dear Hans-Martin, I really appreciate your loyalty to 1x.com. I think it's basically good to win new members with interesting images. There are some of the "new invitees" whose work I love. I don't want to mention names here, but they know who I mean. On the other hand, pictures are published and awarded that make me shake my head. I do not understand why the work of the Ambassadors is not explained in detail here. There are so many questions and inconsistencies that many members are unsettled. So I have e.g. just learned for the first time that not all uploads of the invited photographers are published directly. I also don't understand why these members become "Unlimited Members" and what advantages result for them. As Colin has already written, the impression of a two-class membership arises. Quite apart from the new design of 1x.com, I am also in doubt whether my work will be judged fairly here. For this reason I stopped uploads at the beginning of June. I was very active in 1x.com for 6 years and I wonder where the images are from many of the members who have accompanied me during this time. I fear that many are just as insecure as I am and are therefore holding back. I also doubt that it makes sense to forego those who have contributed significantly to the further development of 1x.com in the past few years. I see this post as food for thought and hope that in future such posts will no longer be necessary.
Dear Hans-Wolfgang,
first of all, thank you very much for your appreciation of my loyalty to 1X. But first of all, I see it as my obligation to avoid spreading false facts about 1X.
And I want you to approach the topic of "Invited Famous Photographers" from a different perspective. The ambassadors are looking for photographers who have made a name for themselves in photography and whose work can significantly increase the quality of the 1X gallery. Well, if you think about inviting a famous photographer like, say, Jim Rakete from Germany (by the way, I actually invited him many weeks ago), then you have to admit that such a photographer is not willing to upload his excellent work to then have it curated by 1X members. Because of this, their photos will be published immediately. Jim Rakete has not yet answered, he has a lot to do at the time, his film "NOW" about environmental issues, which should have been in theaters in early 2021, has been postponed several times and is now planned for August 26.
I remember the last few posts (a few months ago) from members complaining that the visitor of the 1X gallery keeps seeing the same type of images on the front page of 1X. So why not add photos by really famous photographers? They don't compete with other 1X members, they don't use the curators' resources. So what? See it positively! A published and awarded picture of Hans-Wolfgang next to a picture of Gered Mankowitz on the 1X front page! If that's no support ...
It's extremely difficult to get these people on board, by the way. I thought of Linda McCartney, who died more than two decades ago and whose photographs have since been shown extremely successfully in exhibitions around the world. I don't know the people who manage her Instagram account, as I said, it's almost impossible to get in touch. The same goes for some of my ideas for inviting National Geographic photographers.
As you can see, in assessing this subject it is always a point of view, a question of perspective.
Invited photographers enjoy a free membership which is called "unlimited". However, it is not planned that they will upload several hundred images, but only a cross-section of their work. Concerning this issue the ambassadors are collaborating closely with the invited photographers.
Cheers, Hans-Martin

Hi,
after several months in which I continued to trust that several defects (serious for me) of the new version could be solved, today I decided not to renew the PRO subscription expiring in a few days.
Although there have been improvements, several problems remain, including the very poor usability for viewing photos (it's been months since I reported the failure to resize photos in PC browsers, forcing you to scroll every time the image. What a bore!), the lack of new tutorials (personally I joined 1x to learn) and the Critique section worsened (in my opinion) compared to the Classic one.
Perhaps the staff of 1x is not very interested in the requests and reports of the community and then, in my opinion, it is no longer the case to continue to have confidence in the restoration of the full usability of the site.
I will continue occasionally to see if there will be more attention from the staff and if they will bring 1x back to the level it has always had before. I hope to have again the reasons that led me to subscribe to PRO about a year and a half ago.
In the meantime, best regards to the whole community. Have a nice weekend.

That really is a pity, to see people go like this!
I'm still in doubt whether I should re-new my 4+ years of PRO membership or not, but I have a somewhat less technical approach, I think. I had been less active for a while, so all the changes were a surprise for me. To whom it may concern, here are the pros and cons of my experience so far:

There will be more functionalities in the new 1X than in the classic 1X (changing the color of background, changing the order of images (in classic not possible, by the way, an issue many members complained about in the past), creating exhibitions (means showing selected photos from the profile with additional text (!) ). There are already a lot of interesting new functionalities implemented. And there are more to come. Stay tuned !
The US will leave Afghanistan on September 1.
Not so sure of 1X leaving Classic on September 1.
Hang on

At 1x, the x was always written in lower case, it should stay that way in the future!
In the last part, there are only vague promises, nothing more. If, then coming goals must be named exactly with concrete publication dates.
Judging by what happened in the last five months, I'm seriously worried.
What changed beside the look is the usablility on mobile devices. I think that's one of the goals of the new design rarely mentioned. "Classic" is almost impossible to handle on Android devices. I doubt it's the optimum now, but it improved. On the other side, which serious photographer does not have and use a large screen setup, PC or Notebook? Sometimes it looks like curation is done on mobile phones, where editing flaws and real quality issue like sensor spots, aberration, weird bokehs and glitches in masking remain undiscovered. 1x isn't instagam, and it should not feel like it, I think.
I hope Jacob or Ralf gives a statement what will happen 1st of September to classic 1x.
I have to "bunker" all my lists, because nothing of that has yet moved over to the new version.
The list of waht is missing to keep the promise to not switch off classic before everything has moved over is long.
I started it a couple of weeks ago and the "likes" make it a kind of priority list, other members have added their points
Here it is: https://1x.com/forum/site-related/before-you-shut-down-classic-can-we-have
Shutting classic 1x down in three days from now feels like not keeping the promises to me.
I don't know, I never considered to use my iPhone for interacting with the 1x website.
I don't know either, may be. However, sometimes I have the feeling that not the size of the display plays the dominant role but the behavior of the members. I have already observed several times that they apparently look very cursorily at images before leaving a comment even below published and awarded pictures. Take for example "The Shawl" by Alfredo Sanchez.
A big flaw (dark spot) on the nose of the woman that interrupts the light border of her nose was apparently overlooked. 18 members commented, 58 members liked the image and no one of them had the idea to send Alfredo a personal message to reupload a reworked image.
Yes !
Kind Regards, Hans-Martin
+1
Especially for the length of the curation process.
Among the cons I also add the lack of possibility to open several photos in as many browser tabs by clicking the right mouse button, which is possible in the Classic version.
I agree.
Even to me it seems clear that this new version of 1x is essentially optimized for mobile devices.
The key element of a photo site is to have the photos displayed in full in the Gallery section. Not in half or three-quarters, forcing the user to scroll. This is an essential thing to appreciate a photo. It's irritating and boring. Personally it makes me not want to browse through the (beautiful) photos.
Yet the lack of auto resizing was reported many months ago, but nothing has been done about it. In the Classic version it is there. Inattention? Carelessness? Intention to leave everything like this in order to privilege mobile devices?
500px and 100ASA have a very good zoom system that makes looking at the photos very pleasant.
So because a portion of users didn't report the dark spots then there is no point in allowing the photos to be viewed in full?
Sorry, but I think the first and essential thing for a photography site is to allow the entire photo to be viewed, not part of it. Regardless of the behavior of some members.
Best regards.
Sorry, I have no problem with this issue. If an image is displayed in a size that is bigger than the screen, I choose the next diminution in my browser. Mostly after one diminution the image is filling the screen exactly. I work with Safari on a McBook. Once chosen a diminution all images are displayed full size.
Absolutely no problem.

Hi Luc,
the forum was giving me an error when I clicked to publish the post (an "id" error), so I tried clicking several times.
Thank you.
The black spot on the nose is one of the long eye lashes, have a look at the other image of the same model. Will you then still see it as flaw?
I find curating through my mobile phone (iPhone X) equally pleasant as curating through my laptop. On my mobile device I can even more conveniently resize the image. I'm not entirely sure if I would see minor flaws, but I'm not sure about noticing them on the laptop either. After all I'm a passionate hobbyist and here to learn... and maybe exactly that is what I find so dubious about the curation process. Who am I to judge?

Hello Jacob, yes I know and understand that, and of course it happens. I have designed websites in the past, changing layouts etc..I understand very well. But there is more to my questions on forum posts. If you read many of the forum posts about the transition these past few months, what I wanted to know and I'm certainly not alone, is what gets ported over and what does not get ported over. Some members have even created item lists of what they would like to see kept and transferred to the new 1x. But unfortuntely, nobody ever got any good clear replies and the mysteries remain. When you read your own FAQ, its says ' all ' functionalities and features will be carried over. When we see the new 1x, that is far from being true. So, since I'm certain that you must have already a very good idea of what the new 1x will be, why can't you be more transparent and give us a clear picture of what the new 1x will be. We are after all paying clients and paying clients deserve to know what they are paying for and what to expect. As you can read in the forums, members say I want this, I want that, what happened to this, why can't we do that etc etc etc....and maybe its time to change your FAQ so it reads a 'few' features will be carried over.. were carried over...Joe
Hello Joe
All fair points. I promise that by the next week latest, we will post some more info about the future features to be added to our new platform.

Ciao Jacob, verranno ripristinati tutti i punti che abbiamo accumulato sui nostri profili? By points I mean those accumulated with the comments, care and photos posted.
Buona giornata!

At the moment we have no plans to add the old points system back.

For example, when I am in the forum, a circle appears at the bottem of the right side of the corner with my currant photo in the curation and in the circle it says 70 %. What does this display mean, because in the life curation appears a different value on ?

Hi Rolf, that's the curation status progress vs. popularity quote of the curated photo compared to other photos in the same category.
Kind regards!
Thank you, I thought that would be the ads directly under the photo, because here is also the " popularity " of the photo compared to the others displayed and it is different value, there has irritated me, it is still not completly clear to me.
So sorry to agree with many comments above, comments of disappointement concerning the new version (miss 1x classic :-(
1) First of all published (but not awarded) pictures disappears nearly immediately and once published there are no more comments or no more communication with memebers
2) selection of pictures to be published also changed a lot (pictures with high popularity are rejected and others with quite low popularity are accepted ???)
3) Details of earning's not so clear than before (number of pictures sold, period etc.)
best regard
Anna
... two more points
4) only one single picture can be sent to curators
5) only a few 'artists' are shown in this new version (what about ALL other contributors ?)
Truelly disappointed about this new concept :-(((((
I have similar problems.
1. I can't send more than 1 photo to curatorial process at any time - this means that i will be able to send 1 photo per week or about max 6 per month, considering the time for the last curation. So there's no chance to send 20 photos per week with this subscription. In the classic version I could send all of them to be curated.
2. I can't find the option to post a forum thread, or I can only comment my problems on the existing threads hoping someone will read them.
3. I can't find an option to show on my profile only one category of photos for the ones visiting my page.
4. I see some comments from curators or users (i'm not sure which ones) during the process and I think it would've been better to show the names, so I will know which ones to consider I can learn from or not, taking into account the irony/sarcasm of some in their comments.
5. The new version loads slowly and a lot of times opens the windows weirdly, at least on my phone. Some I can click to like while fosome I can't
Now if I try to go to the profile or portfolio of someone who has become my follower, I happen to find this screen:
:(
This photographer has no photos published yet, check back later
My comment is redundant.
Best regards to all.
Francesco

No it wasn't. Once it was sent to curation you could only delete it when it was rejected. This did not change, sorry to say.

是这样的,感谢!
策展期间的照片怎么删除?原来在1x classic里很容易做到。谢谢你 !
不,不是。一旦它被发送到策展,你只能在它被拒绝时删除它。这没有改变,很抱歉。

I confirm that it was possible to remove a photo in the "old" 1x even while it was being treated, I did it 2/3 times ... 1x Classic was "old" but perfect in all its functions, it was even faster.
A big hello to all members.
Hey Jacob.
I think it is our right to have our photos uploaded during our paied subscription to be curated all after our subscribtion ends cause we have already paied their curation.
For a 2 photos curated per 1 week in the new 1x , this means 8 of your uploaded photos would be curated per 1 month ( in fact it is less ), 24 photos per your assumed 3 months subscription, while your subscription covers an upload of 240 photos ( the maximum ), per your 3 months subscription. When the 3 months ends, YOU CAN NOT SEND YOUR PHOTOS TO CURATION UNLESS YOU SUBSCRIBE AGAIN.
All what I am saying
THE SUBSCRIPTION SHOULD COVER THE UPLOADED PHOTOS AND THEIR CURATION TOO. Or you got to change 1x.com's about.
Let us hear from you .
Thank you all.

Its evident you guys are hell bent in destroying your own creation with merciless non sensical transition.. Am yet to come across one person who is happy. It will a sad sitaution if people will opt out just because of the way this beautiful platform was redesigned..
Hello Jacob,
with the new version of 1x, It’s clear the intent from the owners to give a different approach to the way 1x gets used by the photographer. From now on, 1x will be more of a platform to display your portfolio rather than a curated photographer platform. Now, the link connecting the photographer portfolio and the curation process is slightly confusing (published pictures? Awarded pictures?) and, overall, very slow. One of my pictures took 1 week to be curated and, even if the average curation process will be, as promised, 2/3 days means that the amount of the curated monthly pictures won’t be more the 10/12 per month. This is an enormous drop from the previous number of 80 and a general shift from the original idea of a curated platform. In my opinion, this is not going to be a winning bet. Most of the photographer already spend money for tailor-made way to display your work (I.e. websites platform like Squarespace) and my gut feeling is that users will lose interest for this great platform. I hope that there is still space for thinking about some aspects of the new 1x, especially in the curation process. All the best, L
The original idea of a curated platform was to only show the best of the best. Please take in mind that when 1,000 1x members each send 80 photos to curation each month there are 80,000 photos that need to be curated. By 15 head curators ?
Slow down ! We all already are drowning in a flood of images everywhere we go. 1X has been and will be a place where you can linger and enjoy high quality photos and read about photography (interviews and exhibtions).
Cheers, Hans-Martin

Hello Hans, I understand the enormous effort that the 1x editors made during the years, and I understand that carry on with a similar volume of submissions is not feasible. Other high-profile photo platforms like Photovogue or Lensculture have gone already in a similar direction. However, I think that the curation process was a specificity of 1x differentiating it from any other similar website. So, I wonder if there is a way to merge the curation process into the new philosophy? Maybe a compromise could be to slightly increase the images you can send to curation i.e. one picture each day, which is still much lower than it was before. In my opinion, this would make the website more dynamic and would incentivize photographers to interact with it. Kind regards
Hello all,
imagine the following situation: I have told my friends in the photo club that I have now set up a gallery with over 100 pictures at 1x.com and that my pictures can be found there. The name 1x.com is easy to remember. The friends go to the site and look for my name among the members. But they don't find me. There are a number of members and it also says, "See all Artists" but not all of them come. Hardly anyone would think of using the search function to enter my name.
Unfortunately, my enquiry to the support regarding this problem remained unanswered once again. Apparently they don't want to talk to the paying members any more.
To me, it looks like you only count as an "artist" when you have 148 publications. So there are also second-class artists who are not shown.
Kind regards from Stephan Rückert
Tell them to use the search function. That's the fastest way to find your profile. No one of your photoclub friends will go through the profile pictures of several thousand members to find you.
Cheers, Hans-Martin
Da stimme ich zu, aber dann darf da nicht stehen: "See all Artists"! Das ist irreführend.
Liebe Grüße von Stephan Rückert

Can someone tell me where the search function is for finding members, currently with an iPad?
I also cannot find me too kn the member icons lists maybe. More than 60 published pictures and an interview does not automatically categorizes you in the category artist

Hello,
today a member favoured one of my unpublished (rejected) images. This surprised me a lot, because I don't know where these pictures are still visible in the new 1X.com. But maybe I just haven't found out yet how this works. I would be grateful for a hint.

Hello Stephan,
When you have done curation, you can consult the history of your curation activity.
We can therefore access the last 190 photos for which we voted.
If you select one of these photos, it is displayed in large format, and you can favorit it, even if it has been rejected.
I think that's what happened with your photo.
This scenario can occur even several days after the rejection of the photo, it just needs to be in the member's curation history.
Greeting.
Eric

thank you, Jacob. I will. Your reply and a photo published today have both conspired to change my mind!

well, Jacob, I thought it would be pretty easy to find [email protected] but it took me an hour and then I clicked on 'New', thinking to post a new post and instead was jack-knifed back here. Which is pretty much everything that I don't like about the new 1x. I had to go lie down for a couple of hours. I know that a lot of this is peuliar to me. I have chronic fatigue and brain fog so I can't adapt to changes like I used to. But it still seems very hard to navigate. I thought I would find my newly published photo on the 'recently published' site but couldn't find it. My last 3 published photos didn't appear there either, as far as I could see. And I feel like my payment was for submitting 20 photos a week - to curation. I can still add them but only 2 -3 per week to curation. That seems to be a drop in value. Is the classic 1x closed now? If there was a way to continue using it, I would be happy doing that. Thanks for listening/reading!

Duh! I should have been able to work that out, sorry! Thanks for the tip.

I last had a photo in the curation that was 99 percent more popular than other photos according to member curators and 99 percent more popular than other Street photos according to member curators. When the expert curators began to curate the picture, these values suddenly dropped to 44 percent. How can that be? Another software problem? I now ask a bit polemically: Do you know that you can test websites before you go online? Or is everything work in progress for you?

I remember Jacob saying he will provide a list of features being adapted to the new format next week. I think that's 3 weeks ago.
And I remember Jacob saying classic 1x will not be shut down until all features are available in gamma.
It's the promises not kept that are most disappointing. Who ever developed software knows there are bugs, reworks, delays are almost normal. But members are paying customers, unless they decide not to remain customers anymore. The internet may be full of new potential customers, but I sense keeping the long-term customers pleased somehow has no strong focus anymore.
Hi Ulrike,
Jacob once explained the score. It's more the overall popularity within a genre, so 99% is top, 50% is average, etc. The "more popular than" is confusing simply.
Regards,
Mike
good possible! Interestingly, percentages are alwys nearly the same for all four circles, no matter if compared to the pictures in a certain category or if voted by expert or not, eg you see 79 79 78 78 % and so on.
The numbers seem random and foremost: meaningless.
My recent uploads:
78 78 76 76 % - published, but not awarded
86 86 86 86 % - published, but not awarded
92 92 89 89 % - published, but not awarded
88 88 93 93 % - published, but not awarded
92 92 79 79 % - published, but not awarded
74 74 72 72 % - currently in curation but I know already how it will end.
Maybe all those uploads are all only 2nd best work and would not be even published in classic - and I can live with that! But the high percentage indicates the opposite. So what score does one need now to get awarded? 150%? 200%? 1000%?
I am sorry for not getting back to you with the feature roadmap - I am currently working very hard on the details to make sure it is correct and can be properly executed.
Regards
Jacob

Does anyone know how to check who added my photo to their favorites? I can see the names showed under the "Bell" sign/notifications.
However, when I click on the names, it only goes to my photo they added to the favorites instead of their profiles. I want to check who they are and their profiles. Also, I could not find a way to check the complete list who added my photo to their favarites like classic 1x does.
Thanks,
Qing
Merci,
Qing
When your photo is displayed, you have to click on the number next to the heart, the list of members will appear, and you can select them to view their profile.

Got it! Thank you so much Eric!
Hello everyone, the first shock I received is that I lost all relationship with the other photographers and could not find a way to see what they published. The truth is that little by little I am discovering that everything is practically possible as before, it is very confusing but I am understanding it.
What I have not been able to see again as before, are my own photos, it is not easy to see.
I don't see the logic of creating an "exhibition", you can only select the winners and I only have 2, it could be a selection among all my non-awarded photos, since it is an "exhibition" of my work.
To see my photos in "Your photos" is absurd, the information that is initially received is something that we already know, it is irrelevant, you have to enter "Edit" and click on the photo to see the comments and the "likes", the The order in which the information appears is totally wrong, it should be just the other way around. But going from photo to photo without going back to the beginning, repeating the same thing each time is not possible and it becomes very "boring".
For the rest, I see that it is possible to do everything before, but you have to use a lot of imagination to discover how.
Healing progress is very slow and takes too many days.
Other criticisms I leave for another day.
Where can I find the list of who is following me?

This tells you who you follow. :-) I haven't found the list of followers yet, but I'm fairly confident that will be implemented at some stage. I think development is behind schedule.
At some point it will be possible to access your portfolio of non-published work, also through your account. Go have a look at https://gallery.1x.com/portfolios
Development of the link through the new profile is not yet finalized, but you can already start arranging your photos there.
Kind regards!
Thank you, although I have only seen it for a minute, I find it very interesting and it has a familiar aspect. I have seen that the photos are reproduced in their real size, they do not pass the screen up and down, as it happens now with all large photos, it is very annoying and does not allow us to see the photos correctly.
People have requested the country member lists back and here it is:
(Click "By country")

Unfortunately isn't working correctly. It's certainly missing some users and not so sure about the ranking either. But nice that you added it back. There are some other missing functionalities that prevents me using 1x anymore, and people complaining a lot here on the forum, like a proper website navigation, which is still a mess. You cannot open an image in a new tab, and when you open it in the same page and try to go back (when you are scrolled down) it just takes you to a totally different position which is really frustrating.
It's your decision what you want to do with the platform, but I feel like the classic was a lot more frendly.
Requirements to be on the list are:
The ranking is based on the number of published (1p) and awarded (5p) images last 6 months. We want to promote our active members.

Hi Jacob, what about crew members list? Is that coming like we had in Classic? Is it in the roadmap? By the way, we will get that roadmap soon, been a while since we talked about it here?
I added the word crew at the end of URL just in case it is already active! ;-) but it brings me back to the all members list.
Joe.
Crew is now on the About page 👍

Hi Jacob,
my compliments for this latest update, much appreciated and which contributes to making the new 1x version ever more agreable and performing.
However, I would like to make you a little annotation and ask you a question.
Little annotation :
You wrote "We want to promote our active members". Now, if the intent was to reward the most active members, you should have foreseen: A) a minimum score for those who submit photos in curation; B) an additional bonus in points if the photo is published; C) a further additional bonus in points if the photo is awarded.
(for example: 1 + 10 + 50)
As you have structured it now, you do not reward the most active members but only the most skilled or best members. By saying this I certainly do not mean that what you did is wrong (in fact I personally appreciate it very much, being someone who puts very few photos in curation 😁😃), but simply that it is not consistent, if the intent you had set for yourself was to reward the more active members. Do not you agree?
The question:
In the near future, will it be possible to add in the profile of each member (I think in the "about" personal page) the score they have achieved?
Good weekend to everyone.
Sergio
Hi Jacob,
Thank you for improving the new version step by step.
1. When can we expect the watermarks with our names to return to our published/awarded images? Currently (last couple of months) they are not applied to images even when the option is ticked/chosen in settings to yes/apply watermarks.
2. When can we expect thumbs option for our profile pages with all our photographs/images? Currently available only to the main page popular/latest.
The endless scroll is ghastly and is such a turn off. The idea of exhibitions is interesting but also has no option of thumbs, only one endless scroll again.
3. The default 1x site option for visiting guests (or those who did not login) is white background (and yes with endless scroll) which is frankly blasting bright awfull and hardly flattering when representing our images. Is it possible to revert it to the trademark 1x "dark" mode as a default or give photographers an option how they would like to be seen? Say chose an option of dark-mode and thumbs for everyone who visits my profile? As it stands I do not even like coming to see my section myself...
4. Image sizing and auto-resizing. Seems to be out of sorts and often stretches images too much. Cmd (cntrl) -/+ do not work on those either.
5. Can we please have one chosen image to represent our portfolio (as we used to have) instead of an automatic superstretched image that has been the last in the line of published? Or perhaps have an option - choose a banner (fixed image) or use an auto/default option. The problem with the auto/default is the vertical/portrait images, that fill the screen completely, leading to... yes endless scroll again...
Thank you,
Andro
Hi, I am an old member of 1x but had not been very active in the site in a while ... the new look of the site has a coolness to it but it seems a little hard to navigate.. It appears to me that this site is still in the work-in-progress stage.
Can anybody point to me how the publishing and awarding process works these days? I had a photo published about 10 days ago. But it has not shown up on the front page yet. Earlier the process used to take not more than 3 days, does it take longer now (perhaps because of the growing popularity of the site)?
I think it would be really nice to have a site map page that helps new users to navigate the site.
Cheers,
Ariel

Adding one note: curation process currently takes 5-6 days instead of 2-3 days.
Photos with very low popularity rates should not go to experts curation. that would cut at least 2-3 days and would ease on the experts

That's a good idea. I would add another similar option, to allow the members to stop the curation process at any moment if they wish.

Les photos avec des taux de popularité très bas ne doivent pas être confiées à des experts. cela réduirait au moins 2-3 jours et soulagerait les experts
Yes it could be a good idea in order to save time on curation in general. But this should only be done if the% popularity algorithm during curation is reliable.
We are several members (Mike, Omar and me) to have reported a dysfunction of% popularity which drops towards zero (see the subjects raised 5 days ago in the discussion thread "Curation")
Photos with very low popularity rates should not go to experts curation. that would cut at least 2-3 days and would ease on the experts
When a photo is in curation it cannot be deleted, why not allow the photographer, when he realizes that the photo is not popular enough, he can delete it?
.
If we like it we can still feep it in our private portfolio but the curation should stop. If I understoof the curation workstreem this should have been the case to begin with. I now have a photo in curation for about a week with a popularity of 1% and it keeps from sending a different photo for curation. Also if it is not that good why have the experts spend time on it.
I have a question about the difference of No posted and No selected.
I understand that No selected is not awarded but, when a photo is in a "No posted" situation, it means that no one can see it, or that it has not been sent to the Curators.

Not posted means that you have not presented your photo to curation. To present your photo open your "photos" list and click on the appropriate button.
Not selected means that your photo will not be published and awarded. The photo will not be shown in your portfolio.

But anyone can see your photos, the awarded portfolio photos and the non-awarded ones, before and after sending them to curation.
My doubts have always been that now in 1x all the photos are selected, and some photos will not appear among the non-awarded photos, in such a way that no one will be able to see them.
All the best.
Hi Alberto,
That depends to which platform you have uploaded the photos, I think... there are two platforms. I don't know if the uploaded photos on 1x.com (the curated page) will synchronize automatically with the portfolios platform in future. Currently I've done separate uploads to both platforms, with the exception of the import that was initially done when I activated the portfolio page.
Kind regards!
Hi Mates!
i am realy unhappy with new 1x version. I stop for while for submit photos. i really love classic one.

The photo will only be show in the portfolio if it is published and awarded, it means that sharing the portfolio with other photographers becomes very difficult to achieve.
For me, a photo shared with other photographers in the portfolio with a few "likes" is as important as a published photo, here it comes into question that it is a good photo.
If a photo is not awarded it does not mean that it is a bad photo, but in 1x it is doubted that it is a good photo, if the purpose is photos for art galleries, then trends prevail over quality, meaning quality. a good award-winning photo or not.
A photo more "popular" than others by 5%, is no longer as good a photo as a photo "published", of course there are similar photos, but they are still good photos, and even better, if a street photo is more popular than other "street" photos by 1%, it is not even worth shooting anymore, we stopped taking photos of streets because there are many similar ones!
The good technique should not be the use of the camera, the photos are taken by the photographer, not the camera, a photo shot with a mobile phone is inherently a bad photo, or is it because it is not valid for an art room, how! I am going to expose a photo of 10x15 cm !.
Another thing that I observe, at least with my two award-winning photos, is that highly processed photos are awarded above all, the photo that simply has retouching to improve exposure or white balance, is not accepted except in very special cases. (I don't mean fine arts, conceptual ...)
I think trends are one thing and good photos are another, something we are missing.
All the best.
Abot experience points.
Could anybody kindly explans how to score experience points ?
And why when you spent a whole 24 hour in curation and writing critques about photos you could get not more than 6000 points and in a half an hour exactly some member suddenly showing score of 17000 directly from zero in the first day of the month ?
is the score doubled or tripled for some members ?
OR WHAT ?

A mystery to me.
I have no clue, but where can you see this? I certainly don't know where to find this type of info.

The information that Hans Martin pointed to can be found in the archives of the magazine. If you mean a published photo; that can be found if you select 'Latest published' from the dropdown menu under 'Popular' on the front page. Only 'Awarded' photos will make it to the front page under 'Popular' and in 'Latest awarded' and the appropriate categories. Published photos will not appear in the categories.
Hope this helps, kind regards!
Hello everyone,
I have written to support several times recently and am not getting any response or feedback.
I also find it strange that this mail address can only be found here in the forum, hidden in individual posts.
The problem I have:
I had a portfolio set up. All published pictures were made available. For a short time now, this collection of published pictures is no longer being updated, so that I can no longer include newly published pictures in my portfolio. Maybe someone here has a tip for me.
Hi Stephan,
You may want to have a look here: https://1x.com/magazine/permalink/9231
Hope it will give you more insights.
At some point you can have a portfolio of non-published work (you can set it up here: https://gallery.1x.com/portfolios) and Jacob confirmed there will be a link to that portfolio available in your profile on 1x.com, however that hasn't been implemented yet.
Kind regards!

The problem was solved. Thanks to the support who gave me the crucial hint. I have to upload the images myself.
unfortunately there is no description of how to use the portfolio page. It works completely independently from 1x.com. Here you can upload any image. The option can be found in the menu of the start page of your own gallery.

To be specific, my photo after being published had not shown on 'Latest published'. Even today, a photo got published and it did not show up in the 'Latest Published' page. Earlier it used to show up immediately after I got the published notification.

It was bothering me as well with regard to my photo. However, your photo is shown (Is it the one with the accordion?) . You just need to scroll down a lot. It should be sorted by publication date order yet I think it is sorted by popularity.

Thank you so much! I appreciate that! it was way down considering it was published today. I guess 1x is publishing a lot with the current format but being picky in the "award" category.
I am sorry for not getting back to you with the feature roadmap - I am currently working very hard on the details to make sure it is correct and can be properly executed.

Hi Jacob,
Since this is a bit more then two weeks ago now, can you share it?
I would be interested if it covers:
- see followers
- have a detailed earnings overview where we can see wghat was sold when / lately
- create and maintain lists apart from "favorites"
- see the description of a photograph without digging into "actions / edit details"
Regards,
Mike

I see, the description of a photo is now shown, thanks for that!
How do we look on the earnings listing, lists and followers?

Hello
During a curation session, it is interesting to take a break from time to time, and to consult the history of our activity.
We can then display the photos in large format, consult the portfolios to get to know each photographer better. So we can check if our votes are fair, and especially if our comments written on the photos are relevant.
For some time now, a lot of comments have disappeared in our history of curation activity.
For example, just now, out of 30 curated photos, I wrote 15 comments, and only the last 2 are visible in my history.
Our history shows our last 190 votes, all our written comments among those 190 votes should appear in our history.
I don't know if other members have noticed this problem, but I think it needs to be corrected.
Greetings
Thank you Jacob.
Best regards,
Francesco
Thank you Hans. But lets agree to disagree the curation is taking around 6 to 8 days for me anyway. As your message says the unpublished images previously had little or no interaction unless they were people you follow as I can see there is no follow on the new site. So that is the same but I would say it feels like the published images are now the unpublished. But i will still be around as I say it is still a inserational web site. The most important thing is the quality of the work and that everything is currated !!!!! One last point still dont understand the curation. Today one artist had three images Published in sucsession but I can only post one at a time how is this possible????
Cheers
Colin
Cheers, Hans-Martin
I Hans just replying to this. I have been on 100ASA myself (I'm still there and I've just joined 1x) and there is not "crap" gallery there.
Also what you are refferring to is already old as they release new features pretty much every 2/3 weeks. Also they use AI so there are not "linear" rules for photo publishing (like all photo platform out there where they are just likes counter like 500px or Youpic). I submitted 2 photos and 1 ended up in the opening another on in the Upcoming. After few days it was promoted by the community to prime. Also the curations is very clear and users can follow everything.
The directors are very open to suggestions and they always reply to all your email. Becouse their attidute I'm sure they will go far but who knows.
Forgot to say that their UI is amazing and they have done this in just 1 year !!!
I'll try to post some photos here on 1x as well but so far I really don't like the UI. I can tell on 1x there are lots of very good photographers so I hope to learn more.
Jhon,
100ASA is a very good photo website . . . but it doesn't have a Senior Critics section like 1X does. It's a bit harder to find now in the new, Gamma version of 1X, but if you click on 'Forums', and then click on 'Critique', you will find it. The URL is https://1x.com/forum/critique There is also a new button marked 'Discussion Forum' on some 1X pages that leads to the Senior Critics section. All members are welcome to post their photos there and join in the discussions about theirs and other members' too. I hope you'll check it out. Photography is a lifelong learning process, and the Senior Critics section is a good resource. We learn together.
(<i>of course I'm biased because I'm a volunteer there</i> :-))

They are working on professional critique, photo stories, photo competitions and much more. They are very dynamic for what I can see. They have been online for just 1 year! :-)
I like 1x as well. I don't know the old version as I've just joned
Now the popularity is no longer displayed during curation?
Now the popularity is no longer displayed during curation?
Give it some time and it will show up.
Hi
I have some questions that I have not yet found an answer to!
The popularity of the pictures is never understood! What does 99% mean and what does 1% mean?
If it's 0%, is this picture really bad?
There is no picture in the world that gets a zero even if it is very, very bad!!! What is this ?
I do not see the number of views on the pictures as the previous version!
Do all photos really reach the curators if their popularity is 1%?
Please explain these points well
thank you
Now the popularity is no longer displayed during curation?

No, I don't think so. Until about 4 hours ago, the popularity percentages for my picture were displayed. Now they have disappeared. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Yes, all the time. It comes and goes. Sometimes for hours and sometimes for less than a few minutes. Sometimes two circles disappear and sometimes all of them. I don't worry about it anymore.

Thank you Omar. Then I stay relaxed too :)
noticed that the numbers were only missing sometimes, when I used my IPhone, not the IPad....
with regards to the percentages in the pie Charts, for me really meaningless, since you have no idea if only one member complained about technical issues ( others did not say anything perhaps) or all members. also for pictures with popularities of 97% you always see a pie chart for improvement. Such that you get the impression the subject matter, technical quality or light is really bad, in particular if the pie chart only shows one aspect, example below.
with regards to comments, if at all, mostly I receive the same two copy paste comments.
also I miss the number of votes, think it is easy to decrease curation time when now only let's say 30 votes are necessary for a decision.
kind regards Ulrike
Hi again, when are you going to fix the site navigation? I'm not going to use the new version till it allows me to view images properly.
Reproduce: go to the main page, scroll down a 2-3 pages, click on an image, click back.... now search for the image you clicked to see further images.
This is really frustrating, I don't know how people use the site really. In the classic 1x I was able to open the image in a new tab, I don't know why they disable this option in gamma...

Pressing back should take you exactly where you were before clicking the image.
Tested in Chrome/Safari.

This is really frustrating, I don't know how people use the site really. In the classic 1x I was able to open the image in a new tab, I don't know why they disable this option in gamma...
What browser are you using?
Pressing back should take you exactly where you were before clicking the image.
Tested in Chrome/Safari.
Just tested in safari and it's working, also working in chrome, but not in the thumbs view, which is what I was using. So for chrome thumbs it's clearly not working.
Hi Guys,
I posted a photo for curation and now it shows I can submit it for critique.
One question. If I post the photo for ciritque who is going to critique my photo ?
Also I saw critique of other photos and it lookds like a "forum". When does the critique ends ?
Thanks

Hello Jhon,
If you request critique by the button after curation, you will receive critique from other members. These are anonymous till there are replies to your response to it.
As the head of critics I'd recommend the forum, which is entirely seperate. The team of critics will help you out with their view, and we're not anonymous. So you can have a look at our portfolio to see what preferences and expertise we have. We try to comment unbalanced, but jsut in case...
You have to craete a new post, provide some basic info and attach the photo to your post for the latter.
See you there!
Mike - senior critic
Jhon,
There are two separate places in 1X where you can get comments and critique for a photo.
Mike has given you good information about the Senior Critic section of 1X. There are three ways to get there.
1. Click 'Forums', and then click 'Critique' - 2 steps
2. Click the big, blue button marked 'Discussion Forum' that has appeared on some pages
3. Copy this URL and paste it into your browser . . . . https://1x.com/forum/critique
All members are welcome to post photos in the Senior Critic section, and to join in the discussions. It's an excellent learning resource, and one that's unique to 1X.com. We exchange ideas and opinions, and we learn together.

Thanks a lot
Thanks for that. Does it mean that I can critique others photos as well? if yes what is the vantage of doing it ? (juts asking I'll do anyway so I can learn how to judje photos)

Hi Jhon,
Either you want to help other photographers by sharing your view, maybe some tips, experience, knowledge or not. There is no bonus or point system, but definitely a vantage. It depends on the intensity of work you put nto a critique.
You would be surprised how much you learn yourself when digging into a photography deeply. I learned more by writing critiques than any way else. Over time.
And usually members who post for critique appreciate your efforts, in many cases real conversations start in the forum. Try it out. I can't speak for the other critique, I don't write there.
Best regards,
Mike

Jhon,
There are several advantages to the Senior Critics' approach to critique over the comments given in the member critique section.
First, we're not anonymous - so you know who is commenting on your photo. Second, you will get an in-depth analysis of your photo. We don't do quick 'great photo', or 'poor photo' comments. Thirdly, even if you don't want to post a photo of your own, you can still look at other photos posted and read what is being written about them. The critics, the photographer, and any member who wants to join in exchange their opinions and ideas, and we learn together. Techniques are exlained in fine detail. We learn together. I invite you to take a look. https://1x.com/forum/critique
Did I mention we're very polite? Before commenting we first try to understand the experience level of the photographer and the purpose and theme of the photo . . . then we offer our comments about what works in the image, and ideas for what might be improved.

Hello all!
Have only I problems to display the images in full size, which are not yet posted. For two days, it no longer works with newly uploaded images, although I have entered all the data. Instead of a large image, only a tiny, few pixels large image is displayed. Strangely, it is to be seen again correctly, when the image was posted. Images that have been uploaded for a long time, but not posted are displayed correctly. Do you now also want to prevent the images in full size to be able to view itself?
I have already asked the support several times, but get again no answer. I am very, very disappointed about this!
Kind regards from Stephan
My displeasure with 1x.com continues to grow. I wonder who came up with the categories. He or she probably has no idea about photography. In every competition there are categories like travel and nature. Now four quite sensible categories have been deleted. In my list, the photos, whether awarded, published or not selected, are now displayed without any category. At the moment, there are still galleries for these four categories that have been abolished. It is probably only a matter of time before they disappear as well. As a precaution, I have assigned one of the other categories to my pictures.
Maybe there will soon be only two categories - colour and black and white. At least then it will be easier to assign them.
Greetings Stephan
Thank you for pointing this out, I have now also assigned other categories to the photos of which the categories don't exist anymore. Since the site is under construction continuously, let's hope the categories will re-appear at some point, that this situation is only temporary.
Hello All
Can someone please explain what the popularity rating really means. I have had a number of images where the popularity has been 95 to 99% and the image has not been "Awarded"
The FAQ says the award process may take from 1 to 2 weeks after publication. So, it may not done yet. From previous forum discussions, I understand the process of Head Curators Award is independent from Member and Expert curation process. The Head Curators cannot see previous two popularity ratings. If such a high popularity score work is not awarded, it really indicates the process is by independent human process and not by any algorithm.
I can not express how sorry I am that 1x is totally transformed.. Have not read this thread until now, and it probably says a bit about how long since I have spent some time on 1x after the change.. I don`t really understand why 1x must change absolutely everything. Rather, they should address certain issues that members were not happy with. I wonder how many people think the new site is better than the old one ?
I guess if I want to sell some more pictures, then I have to start uploading something new, but the joy of being on 1x is almost gone :(
I have recently noted it and I claim it SHOULD BE solved as soon as possible, given the time passed from this first remark
The curation history/activity is malfunctioning and will be completely rebuilt and adapted to the other changes done in curation lately.
Stay tuned.

Sounds great
For my last photo, the % of the curation process is constantly changing, showing as lower after the page is reloaded. I have never noticed that before.

Hi Ina,
See the following thread:
https://1x.com/forum/site-related/curation-counter
Jacob has been made aware and will hopefully resolve it soon.
Kind regards!
A fix for this is on the way, hopefully on Sunday. It only affects some browser/operating system combos.
Regards
Jacob
Dear Jacob, since [email protected] did not reply my inquires even once, I find it appropriate to shows my thoughts here, I guess the algorithm of curation is mal functioning again, or there may be something that I do not knows properly, three successive photos with scores of 1 and 1, 2 and 3, 4 and 5 . This is not right at all I guess.
Here are the three photos, downsized, with scores of 1 and 1 , 2 and 3 , 4 and 5
If I am struggling with those photos to put in my portfolios then I guess will struggles for ever.
Dear Jacob, The score of photos curation is better removed or corrected to a mature one, I do not belive of this size downsized imkage get a score of 4 and 1. this is totally shamful. Thanks heaven only photogrphers can see their own scores.
Cordialement
Eric
... I wrote directly to Jacob, and this is what he says:
"Because of other more urgent issues the curation history is not yet ready for release. Stay tuned as it is scheduled for development during April."
A little patience then ...
Oh shit, I just realized that I had written my previous message in French!
Sorry Jacob :-)
These are the results with Firefox and Window 10 to see the full image:
The problem is not only with the size of the photo, say someone as a 4K display, they will be happy to have your image fill the screen (3840 x 2160), a screen capture would give this person a very reasonable size print. That should be viewed as a big problem, then what about 8K? I'm sure people are doing it right now.

Many of the reasons that made me become a member here, are vanishing at the speed of light, it is so unfortunate.
Hopefully, being awarded will still be meaningful for a while. When it will no longer the case, it may take a little while, but the site itself will crumble.
In the meantime, I'll try to remove all the photos that are just published and keep the awarded.

Yves,
You're not alone. There are many who aren't fully satisfied with the new version of the site. Some aspects are much better, others are frustrating. Patience. The photographs are still inspriational - in my opinion.
You wrote . . . . "One of the main reason I became a member is that I was promise an evaluation of my photo by a bunch of curators, never really materialized in my opinion."
We do that in the Senior Critics section. Click the blue button, 'Discussion Forum' if you'd like to check it out.

Hello Yves,
Curation can only say yes or no, more or less. Like Steven mentioned, you can receive more detailed feedback and I'd like to see your work in the 'critique' forum!

I use the new version often and have adapted in such a way that I barely remember the old version. It has some annoying things, but others are more comfortable, it's normal to be like that.
All the best.

Hi Yves,
1) They are actually not bigger than before when it comes to pixels, it's just that you can see more of the image now because the new design is less cluttered. We have double watermarks on the photos both the photographer's copyright and the 1x logo and we prevent right click-download.
2) Thanks for the suggestion, we are definitely looking to provide even more feedback on photos in the future.
3) It's easier to be published, but being awarded is at least as strict as earlier.
4) You should be able to delete any photos which are not in the curation process or which have not been published or awarded. For any published or awarded photos you need to delete, just contact support and you will get quick help.
5) All photos are evaluated by the head curators. You can also request critique both in the curation process and by the dedicated senior critics in this forum.
6) The idea of the pie charts is mainly to give you feedback about how popular your photos are. But sometimes the charts don't correlate to the publish/award decision because the most liked photo on Instagram is not necessarily the best one to show in an arts museum. There is a difference between popular and artistic. It might take some time to get awarded because the head curators want to make sure to do a very thorough evaluation, but the time has not been increased compare to the old version. Normally it should take less than a week.
Good light, Ralf
Good Morning Colleagues,
Photographers getting feedback on parameters such as % popularity, and the breaakdown in the pie charts is "helpful". Certainly getting published is positive feedback, getting awarded is the holy grail.
However, I was wondering if there was anywhere members can access analytics that show details as to what categories sell and which images within those categories have sold. I think members would find this information helpful, certainly I would. While I like this site for the depth and breath of skills, being able to curate and develop personal skills, improve my own photography and by extension help other to grow as well, if the primary objective of this site is to sell Art for hanging on a wall, then details of what actually gets sold would be an imense improvement. I feel like I am "shooting in the dark" on autofocus, hunting and mostly missing the mark. We all know what the definition of insanity is yes? Doing the same thing over and over and expection a different result.
Cheers!
Kimberly

On point #1, whatever protection against theft you think the copyright marks and the prevention of right click give, it's totally useless in practice. The copyright marks are ridiculously easy to remove in PS and the right click can be bypassed by copying the whole screen, I don't know on the Apple side of things but on a PC there as been a hardware interrupt for this since at least the 80286 era...
Point #3, so I wasn't imagining stuff then. I don't like at all the idea of diluting the quality of work being publish here. On the contrary, I'd prefer it being much harder, at least as hard as being awarded, you guys could even add a category above that, call it whatever you want, but make it, so there is only "great" photos in there.
Point #4, "You should be able to delete any photos..." without having to ask for permission, would be fine with me.
Point #5 That is fine and not so fine even if we can ask for a critic, (too few responses IMHO). I have a couple of photos that earn a score of 99 from the expert curators and the photo hasn't been awarded yet, maybe it will, maybe it won't (nothing transparent about the process). Some of my awarded photos have scored less than that, so go figure. My point is, this scoring system doesn't seem to have any correlation with the prospect of being awarded or not. I understand being popular is not the same, but we are here, at least I'm here, so I can improve my work and be awarded, if I can be popular as well, that's nice, but not the main reason I'm here. We have no idea if only 2 people have seen it in curation or a hundred. Same for the expert curators. I perfectly understand judging is totally subjective, whatever the effort that goes into trying to make it objective, even with AI, because it's a human that feed it the image to learn from, there is no way out. My principle in judging is "universality", or a judgement based on a statistically significant large number of opinions. The more people give their opinion, the better. I have some image that have been awarded here and that don't get noticed in other places, that's why I'm thinking of a category above awarded, so that when pick for that category, there is a strong probability that wherever I show my work, it will have a strong impact. It would be more "universally" appreciated as an "excellent" image.
To be honest, I already started looking for another place to have my photo curated, I hope I can stay here, but I won't if being published is easier, zero interest in that. You have earned a pretty good reputation, until now, please don't go the easy way, it will cost you dearly I believe. Imagine Ferrari, making a 4 cylinder sport car or something like that, it can't work.
Regards,
Yves

Yes, I understand the critic part, by the way I tried it a few times, my understanding was that there are a number of expert curator tht are making the decision and I was lead to believe I would get feedback from all of them in some way. You can say that's what I get when they accept or not my photos. For me it's nice to be accepted but it would be much better to have some constructive feedback. The idea is however nice it is to have a free meal, I prefer by far, being shown how to make my own.
Yes, Yves, but please think about the overall conception of the 1X website. We are running a magazine with about 15 articels per month. Many of them show photos, not seldom 20-30 per article.
If every member would be free to delete his published photos without contacting the support, this could have a negative impact on the magazine articles.
As an example, have a look at the article about Joe Cancilla, photographer of the week in July 2021.
Many of his photos have disappeared and are replaced by small squares.
https://1x.com/magazine/permalink/9216
And when you click on a remaining photo, you will get the message "404 We cannot find that".
That does not look fine.
Good light, Hans-Martin

Very satisfying explanation, I'll stop complaining about this.

Yves, while obviously I respect your opinion overall, I wouldn't be so dramatic about this "relaxation" about publication.
In the old 1x, everyone was free to upload literally anything without any kind of supervision in our profile portfolio, then of course head curators decided if the picture was worth to be showed in the "official" galleries.
Now, even for just having a picture in our profile portfolio we all go under judgement, and this makes the process much "harder" than before in a way, even considering that relaxation we are talking about. Which, btw, in my personal case I don't see so much in place as my photos are still regularly rejected (little bit of a joke here, the culprit is obviously my low level as photographer) and they won't be displayed literally anywhere in the website.
Given this change of paradigm, so to speak, it's understandable that a little bit of relaxation in publication is counterbalanced by the fact that we can't upload literally everything we want and that if rejected a photo it won't be showed anywhere.
That said, and again, I don't see the problem for anybody if is relatively (very relatively) "simpler to be published as those photos will be exclusively showed in "latest published" menu and under our profile, that's all.
Honestly I can't see how all this could effect negatively the quality of the website in general end even less how this could effect negatively your photography/judgement on your photos/anything else.
So, just as a recap: publication and related judgement process is just something we all go through in order just to have something in our profile portfolio, nothing less nothing more. The award process is still in place just like it has always been since I joined 1x about 10 years ago or something.
When it comes to talk about Head Curators' choices well, I guess any of us has an opinion about it and for sure it can happen often that we don't understand why some photo comes to be awarded and some other don't, but that's part of how 1x works and born in the first place.
The way I see it (so this is no more than a personal opinion) I imagine to jump into a Photo Gallery, face to face with the owner/curator and asking him/her: hey, here's my photo/s, would you make a display out of it in your gallery?
YES
NO
C'MON BE SERIOUS NOW.
This way, in my mind at least, it works and that's why I am absolutely convinced that the "relaxation" for publishing it has absolutely nothing to do with the overall quality of 1x which is pretty much the same has always been in years.
P.S. I'm curious if someone involved in the process could give us a statistic about what's the percentage of the published photos related to the total of pictures submitted, this would help everybody to understand how much "simpler" is to get published on new 1x.
Jhon,
100ASA is a very good photo website . . . but it doesn't have a Senior Critics section like 1X does.
(<i>of course I'm biased because I'm a volunteer there</i> :-))
- Steven T.
100ASA is working on professional critique feature!
In the meantime I tried the critique here and personally I don't like it as everyone can comment it not only "recognised photographer"
Hello Jhon, I have entered 100ASA and I have created an account, although I have only seen it for a long time, there is something that I did not like at all. It turns out that in order to have tokens and upload photos for curation, you have to rate the photos of others by filling in a series of fields about the quality of the image. It is not that I want to be badly thought, nor do I want to defend 1x, but I could fill in the criticism of the photos of others in any way and get tokens, which does not guarantee that my photos will be selected properly, everyone can comment on your photo.
All the best.
Jhon,
I'm sorry you didn't like your experience in the Senior Critic section. It is open for comments from all members, although it's the volunteer Senior Critics who write most of the critiques. We appreciate the input from members - they often have fresh and worthwhile insights on the photos posted.
Here's an invitation . . . . have a look, read some of the critiques, and if you have an idea or opinion - share it with us. We learn together. You can participate without posting a photo.

I admit that the new design is quite nice but everything else is not. I am unhappy about a lot of things and I do not think I will renew my paid account once it runs out.
Adam, Collins and other Friends,
I have been a member of 1X for a long time and seen it change over a period some good and some not so good. But this is not the reason to quit. If all of us think like that then the site suffers and content quality degrades. I have been member of many other sites but I must say I still like 1X.
Let's make it known the kind of changes, processes it needs to make it even better than just quit.
Our goal should be to make it better. We can start a new topic of the kind of improvments we constructively need and make a positive impact - what do you say?
Best Regards
Sunil Kulkarni

Yeah, just try to suggest anything other than "Great Work, Dear Friend!" - "Thank You, Dear Friend!" and you will be banned from commenting anywhere. 🤣
This has become a circle-jerk for a rather small number of "Dear Friends".
I keep looking at awarded photos and for a long time have seen nothing, but dead photoshop.
At the same time praise keeps pouring from the same people to the same people. 🥰🥰
Great Work, Dear Friends!!! 🥰
