Does re-upload work for others?
#FEATURE SUGGESTIONS

I am new to the site and have attempted to re-upload images after making technical adjustments (advice from Critique, personal adjustments etc). Only one of the images I changed had been sent to curation.

I have allowed time (at least 24 hours), have tested with multiple browsers and on multiple PC's but although the re-upload indicates success the actual image on the site does not change. None of the images have been published (only one sent to curation).

Do others have the same issue (should the option be removed?).

The only common fact I can come up with is that all PC's used are Windows 10.

Thanks,
Alan Brown

Hi Alan,

I don't think it has anything to do with the user (platform, browser, OS, etc); instead, I believe that all "re-uploads" require approval by a moderator, plus, of course, rebuilding the 2500px view that is presented to viewers (rather than the high resolution image that is uploaded).

I have definitely had one or two successful re-uploads, but in each case it has been 2-3 days before the image changes. I find it easier to delete and upload again, although that will take up one of the allotted "slots"; on the other hand, I rarely upload more than 1 image per day, on average, so it hasn't been a problem. YMMV.

One more trivial suggestion--make sure it's not a cached image in your browser, by clearing the cache or by looking at the image from a browser different from the one you have used previously, e.g. Firefox instead of IE. (But I suspect the delay is on the server not the client side).

Hope this helps,

Greg

Hi Alan,

It doesn’t work.
I re-uploaded mine about four days ago and there is still the old one visible. Someone is supposed tom screen the re-uploads but my guess is no-one is doing it. 1x also doesn’t seem to care; you have probably read the topic on: https://1x.com/forum/support/3838/1489451272

It worked fine about a year ago when I was last time active on the site.

Cheers
Timo

Hi Greg,
Moderators are not involved in the re-upload process. It is done by the Uppsala team.

Hi

In my opinion it should be added the ability to write the reason for revision.
My image has not been changed, the change is small ,it has missed.
Best regards.

Hey everyone;

Yes I think there should be a way to tell them what the changes were. I did re-upload 2 shots last weekend and it took until Friday or Saturday before they were uploaded. Yes I wish it would be faster.

If the new edit is hard to tell, I go back to the re-upload tool and it tells you if your upload is still waiting for review.

Having said that if there is a reason to get it changed quickly, delete the old one and upload the new one. Even for critique shots that allows everyone to see the before and the after.

Hey Marc, like other things behind the curtain we can't see there are mysteries we mortals may never know. But I do know that I have been fortunate to eventually have all the ones I have re-uploaded to be approved. I do believe you and everyone else because the waiting does suck.

FOR THOSE WANTING TO REUPLOAD A PHOTO THAT THEY HAVE DONE ADDITIONAL WORK ON....THESE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS....THEN BELOW THERE ARE QUESTIONS WHICH MIGHT HELP YOU....
IS THIS WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING? IF NOT THIS MAY BE WHY YOU ARE NOT RECEIVING AN ANSWER....
Hello and Greetings to All,

The question as to how to re-upload a photo to the Curators comes up from time to time, and especially so when we have many new members. Therefore, I am re-posting the instructions, and hopefully everyone will take the time to review the procedures.

This is an instructional post so please do not place questions beneath it. Rather please go here - perhaps read questions already asked, and if your question is not there please post it at the end of this thread:

https://1x.com/forum/offtopic/3004/1456211244

There are two separate procedures involved. So, please read the instructions to the end.

- one is for when you want to resubmit a photo which was not published.
- one for when a Curator asks you to re-upload a photo and make specific adjustments they have asked for.

HOW TO UPLOAD A PHOTO FOR RECONSIDERATION THAT WAS NOT PUBLISHED ON YOUR FIRST SUBMISSION.

1. Begin by making significant changes to the photo before you re-submit it.

2. Leave the original photo, which was not published in your portfolio. It must be present to enable the Curator to make a comparison between the Original and the Remake.

3. Upload the new version into your portfolio.

4. When the next screen comes up fill in the title. Use the same title as you did for the original photo, but this time - at the end of the title - add the word REMAKE in caps.

5. In the box below it labeled Photo Description
Indicate all the changes that have been made to the photo.
Please be specific, and list each change.

6. Set the category, click to set the nude filter, indicate if it is for sale and then click on save.

7. Go to your gallery and open the photo.

8. Then go to the Cogwheel and from the drop down menu choose ‘submit to Curators’ Important: Do not use the Re-upload choice. When you read to the end you will understand.

9. Your resubmission will now go through the member curation process, and at the end be sent to the Curators. Due to the fact that you have indicated it is a remake, they will go to your portfolio, and check for the original photo in order to evaluate the changes you have made.

10. If your photo is not published on this second submission you will have two in your portfolio and you can delete one or both if you wish.

11. If it is published you will see the new one on the Front page, and in your portfolio. The new one will have all the comments on it and ratings. If the old one is still there you can of course delete it.

12. EXCEPTION: There is one exception to this process. If a Curator contacts you and requests that you remove a border, or copyright or any thing else, then follow their instructions, and when you upload it again go to ‘re-upload’ rather than ‘submit to curators’. This will replace the photo, which is different from a resubmission where the original photo has remained.

Other Things to Consider
1. It is not to your advantage to remove the original photo if you have made significant changes to your original. You will have lost the opportunity for a comparison by a Curator, and your extra work will not be seen as such.
2. To have a photo published which was previously rejected is rare. It is recommended that you be selective in your resubmissions.
3. If you would like to have some additional opinions about your photo you can send it to the Critique section. The purpose of the Critique section is not to remake a photo so that it can be published. Rather it is to be used if you would like to receive other views and possibly improve your skills.

If you have any questions about this process please feel free to post them here:

Hi Phyllis

I think these instructions do not actually refer to the original question if the re-upload works or not but explain how an image, which one wants to put through the curation process again should be re-submitted. What about if I just want to replace a photo which has never been in curation?
I may have got some good feedback in the critique or have myself noticed something I would like to change without ever planning to send the image to the curators. There is the “Re-upload this photo” possibility under the Cogwheel but as Alan said it does not work – or at least it does not work for all of us. I get promptly a message “This photo is re-uploaded and awaiting screening” (so, it looks like everything is ok) yet there is no screening whatsoever and the image never gets re-uploaded.

Why to keep the function if it doesn’t work?

Cheers, Timo

Just right. Sorry to say Philliys, but Timo is completely right. It is not about the Curation process - and while writing some Parts of this capitalized? That is being considered as screaming into the Internet - no offense.

Best regards,
Marc

The re-upload "Feature" is pretty much useless, there have been debate about it last year, because of always having the same issues, problem...and into the end, one mod here or two told me, that nobody would see the images, for screening, technically...so i don't believe this, that one team in uppsala would see ever these pictures for screening.

Into the end, just like 2016, i'd bite the bitter apple, delete my picture(s), and re-upload them manual, because that's the only thing that works - even if one does loose then the ppl who faved a particular image.

Kind regards,
Marc

Hi Marc,

It’s not completely useless: my photo is now successfully re-uploaded!
We need to be extremely patient though because it may take very long time…
