Saw this youtube video and got me thinking about the next step to candid street.

So now you could hold a camera in one hand and point it anywhere and pretend to be using your phone. Or sit at a cafe table pointing your camera somewhere and shoot without touching it.

Bye bye shooting from the hip, was fun while you existed. Hello shooting from the phone. I don't know if it'll be fun though.

maybe wait for xt-2 or xt1s, fuji goes wrong with their first camera (X100, X Pro 1, XE 1), they all have glitches cleaned up the following year, for consumers to upgrade; maybe wiser to stick to their supermarket film cameras, in awaiting for them to even make raw (raf) files readable; take care

It seems that Fuji did a great camera with this one, whether it is good for street or not is about how any other camera in the market is... For me that tethering is oriented to work on studio or even for landscape as a remote trigger device. I don't see any use other than that since, to make a good photo, you need to be have the control of your frame.

ps: there is a lot of discussion in the internet about that "wrong" or "good" thing with Fuji cameras, as there is with any other brand. I have the X-E1 for almost a year and whilst I'd like it to have some "glitches" cleaned up never found a good reason to upgrade and my RAW files have always been readable by several RAW developers.

Been using X100s for a few months now and if its anything to compare with then its one step ahead for discrete shots. Scenarios I can think of:

- Cradle it in one arm and use the other hand to tell it where to focus and shoot.
- Sit at a table in a cafe, point it and use your phone.

Alonso, am with you,
Thankfully we have so many (maybe too many) choices, that probably all are 'good' and all are 'bad' anyways in a view of consumers; Glitches not glitches, Fuji came out with a very nice range (bodies and glasses, including choices); new gear is often tempting :), but think the best reviews is us users, and it's nice to exchange and share experiences on the field for whatever kind of use intended, with an x,y,z model or Brand; Take care :)

With gear (IMO) it's always the typical discussion about whether you need a specific feature (and thus make a very good use of it) or just a "nice to have" and you still can work without it.

For me, the features of this camera are tempting to use them on concert photography and I'm in fact holding to upgrade my Canon to full frame because the only advantage that would give me it's better noise performance, something that in fact this Fuji provides. And I prefer to use APS-C on gigs since we are always shooting wide open and with APS-C you get a deeper depth of field. Still, Fuji's fast zooms are long way ahead to come and it would be interesting to see some honest reviews from the "early birds" in the upcoming months, instead of marketing hype.

For the street, my X-E1 is good enough, may re-consider it when the X-Pro2 arrives, let's see then.

I came across this topic, and may be it is too late to reply. Anyway, if it can still help... I am using a Fuji XT1. It is a great camera, very similar to the x100s. It has the same sensor and image quality, with three more features I find useful: the tilting type monitor, which comes in handy for street use, interchangeable lenses (I use a zoom), external dials for functions control (there are even more dials than in the x100s). I have never used it by smartphone control, as I find the tilting monitor well adequate for a discrete street use.
