How does the re-upload work ?
#OFF TOPIC

Hello,

Last sunday evening I uploaded a photo, but the next day I realized that it wasn't the good version. The version on my profile had some flaws.
I decided to re upload it with the good one and I got the message "Your file has been successfully re-uploaded.". A moment later I checked my profile but there was no change for my photo. I tried to re-upload it again and I got the message "This photo is re-uploaded and awaiting screening.".
The day after I checked again to find that unfortunately there was still the first version of my photo on my profile, but this time I was able to re-upload it again, so I tried.
Few hours later I still found that there was still no re-upload of my photo on my profile.

Are there problems with the re-upload ?

Thanks for your answer.

Regards, JAC

P.S. : I have just tried again few minutes ago to confirm this problem. I'll see...

HOW TO UPLOAD A PHOTO FOR RECONSIDERATION THAT WAS NOT PUBLISHED ON YOUR FIRST SUBMISSION. ( Finalized on Feb. 16, 2015)

1. Begin by making significant changes to the photo before you re-submit it.

2. Leave the original photo, which was not published in your portfolio. It must be present to enable the Curator to make a comparison between the Original and the Remake.

3. Upload the new version into your portfolio.

4. When the next screen comes up fill in the title. Use the same title as you did for the original photo, but this time - at the end of the title - add the word REMAKE in caps.

5. In the box below it labeled Photo Description
Indicate all the changes that have been made to the photo.
Please be specific, and list each change.

6. Set the category, click to set the nude filter, indicate if it is for sale and then click on save.

7. Go to your gallery and open the photo.

8. Then go to the Cogwheel and from the drop down menu choose ‘submit to Curators’

9. Your resubmission will now go through the member curation process, and at the end be sent to the Curators. Due to the fact that you have indicated it is a remake, they will go to your portfolio, and check for the original photo in order to evaluate the changes you have made.

10. If your photo is not published on this second submission you will have two in your portfolio and you can delete one or both if you wish.

11. If it is published you will see the new one on the Front page, and in your portfolio. The new one will have all the comments on it and ratings. If the old one is still there you can of course delete it.

12. EXCEPTION: There is one exception to this process. If a Curator contacts you and requests that you remove a border, or copyright or any thing else, then follow their instructions, and when you upload it again go to ‘re-upload’ rather than ‘submit to curators’. This will replace the photo, which is different from a resubmission where the original photo has remained.

Other Things to Consider
1. It is not to your advantage to remove the original photo if you have made significant changes to your original. You will have lost the opportunity for a comparison by a Curator, and your extra work will not be seen as such.

2. To have a photo published which was previously rejected is rare. It is recommended that you be selective in your resubmissions.

3. If you would like to have some additional opinions about your photo you can send it to the Critique section. The purpose of the Critique section is not to remake a photo so that it can be published. Rather it is to be used if you would like to receive other views and possibly improve your skills.

I think it is broken. I made a change to a photo that has not been published, so I used the reupload option from the cogwheel and selected the new version of the photo. It says it has been uploaded, but the old one still shows. Tried again and the same thing. Waited a few days and the new one never replaced the old one.

Cleared cache and viewed the image on a different machine, no luck there either. It does not appear the reupload option is actually doing anything.

I'm not sure it does either. Try uploading the new version with a different name - or same name but with Revision A or something like that added.

Hello Leigh,

Thank you for your answer, and thank you to Phyllis for giving this information.

I quote : "HOW TO UPLOAD A PHOTO FOR RECONSIDERATION THAT WAS NOT PUBLISHED ON YOUR FIRST SUBMISSION."

That's not my case. For now I do not pretend to have publishable pictures.
10 months since I joined 1X, I can only note that the level of requirement of the curators is high, and that my photos are far below that level. For now I consider myself just as a student who has a lot of things to learn and who has to work to progress, and maybe, one day, see one of my photo be published.

This is the case for the photo I want to re-upload. There are some defaults on it and I would like to get the good version on my profile, without having to send it in curation again.

1X offers a re-upload option, but maybe 1X considers that to erase some small technical defaults is not a sufficient reason to accept the re-upload request ?

JAC,
Simply upload your revised photo with "Revision" attached to the name as though it were a completely new photo. Forget about re-upload entirely. Treat your revision as a brand new photo being uploaded for the very first time and then proceed.
Thanks,
Leigh

Hello,

We previously had a problem with reuploads, but from we thought this was solved Friday last week. If you are experiencing a problem, please reupload again and tell me when you have done so. I will then check if your reupload has been properly registered.

Kind regards
Thomas

Hello Thomas,

Thanks for your answer but unfortunately it's too late. I've already deleted the first version of my photo and upload the right one.

I keep your request in mind for the next time.

Re-upload doesn't work for me since some time, for instance my latest picture from yesterday here https://1x.com/photo/1024372/all:user:109203
I've cropped it a bit ,and re-upped then, but instead of showing the correct proportions, it's now still showing the old, 1st version, but right now compressed into the wide side, with the proportions of the newer one. i've cleared the cache both in latest firefox & chrome, but it still does show that picture flawed...so what is it then, now?

marc

Marc, JAC,
Let us all slow down.

The instructions from Jef, Head Curator are clear. I have typed them out so everyone can follow them easily.

You do not use the re-upload button.....this is not the correct way to resubmit a photo.

The only reason to use the re-upload button is if a Curator asks you to resubmit a photo. I am going to copy/paste the instructions again....in the next post.

If you have specific questions...about these steps please ask them.
You do not remove the old photo..or replace it..you do not use reupload..

More specifically...
JAC....You say.... This is the case for the photo I want to re-upload. There are some defaults on it and I would like to get the good version on my profile, without having to send it in curation again. :

JAC ..yes it is the case. This is the exact procedure you should have followed. Now that you have deleted your photo...the curators will have nothing to compare your changes to...and it will just be like any other photo going through curation with no special considerations.
Now...if you only want to keep this photo in your portfolio - fine..you have nothing to be concerned about...just enjoy.

Marc...Hi YA..:)
Only use reupload if a Curator asks you to.
Otherwise follow these instructions in the next post.

When you read the instructions Marc...let me know if you find anything unclear in them.....dont touch reupload..:))))
Dont miss any of the steps..:)))
Did you put a new title? No good..

Please try it again and do all the steps...:))

Delete the one you should not have used reupload for...but not the original..you first uploaded..

I know there have been problems with sending to curation from Portfolio..but these instructions should not involved that...at all...

It works for me...so please tell me what happens when you do it.but only if you follow all the instructions. :))

I will be eager to hear..
Phyllis

Hi Phyllis,

that's not the way it work, or *should* work - all these years i could re-upload my picrtures in case something was WRONG with it, i wanted to add a bigger size, or just post-processed my picture a bit again, and surely re-uploaded it here that way - and it worked, it does have had nothing about to-do with Curators or anything else.

Why is that not working again?!?

kind regards
marc

Hi Marc,
I do not know why it is not working for you.

As I see it you have three viable choices..

If you want to send this photo back to the Curators for reconsideration then please follow the correct process as it is outlined above. This does not require using the re-upload button nor should you be using it.

If you just want to put this photo in your portfolio with your changes then delete the original one you have there and use the regular upload process..not re-upload.. to upload the new one. If later you want to submit to the curators then use the 'submit to curators' function.

If it is a published photo then please contact the Head Curator before you make any changes and they will work you through the process.

These are your three viable choices.

Even if the re-upload button comes back, this is not the right way to upload a photo unless a Curator has requested it.

I do hope you will be able to work this out...

My best,
Phyllis
