GROUP GUIDELINES FOR BLACK AND WHITE GROUP

 

PLEASE READ these guidelines before uploading any photographs to this group gallery. If language presents any problem for you to follow the guidelines please contact a Moderator for assistance.

 

1. Group members can upload up to 2 B/W pictures each week. All subjects and genres in black and white are permitted here.

 

2. AFTER YOU UPLOAD A PHOTO to the Group Gallery please go to the Topic thread called Group Gallery 15 (https://1x.com/forum/blackandnwhite/3882/ ) and do the following:

 

(a) Post a link to the photo you have uploaded with the name of your photo. This is mandatory.

 

(b) Then tell us about your photo. I encourage you to write a detailed description of your picture, which can include writing about any special occasions, conditions or obstacles during the shooting or processing. While this is not mandatory, it will help to facilitate a discussion about your photograph.

 

3.

* Please do not upload any color photos, or color photos, which are desaturated, but still showing color.

* Please do not upload any heavily toned images. These can be placed in “every other group” here at 1x.

 

This group will not focus on Sepia photos, but over time we may have guests come to join us, and they will address this type of photo.

 

4. Up to seven photos will be published each week.

 

5. The logo picture will chosen from one of the published photos, and replaced when an outstanding photo is available, and sufficient time has been given to the current photo. This change will happen at the discretion of the manager of this group.

Hello everybody,

 

this is my first submission to the B/W group.

 

This picture has been taken in London, somewhere close to Covent Garden. I was exploring the small roads and found this peculiar act of defiance to the rules. It seemed a right thing to make the pic :)

 

It wasn't a sunny day, so I had to expose an f/4 and 1/30 @24mm, just above the limit at which the image gets blurry. The b/w conversion has been made in camera raw, I also added some sharpening in PS (unsharp mask setting: 50,2px,5threshold)

The view from this sea cave is amazing. This is at low tide. I would not want to be in this cave at high tide. I love the way the rim of the cave creates a natural framework for this image.

It is a photo taken from the front door of my home - we overlook False Bay and I always look out for interesting sunrises. Instead of the usual colour version I think this one shows the distance and layered mountains nicely.

We had a lot of wild fires recently and the smoke over the mountains gave a nice depth.

My wife and I are moving home to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I took this image to remind me of the view we will have in a few months. A view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains during Winter. The peaks in the distance are around Lake Tahoe, where the snow depth is more than 20 feet (6 meters) from recent storms. We have spent the past 17 years in Southern California near the beach. We will miss the ocean, but there is no place like home.

A very impressive visit.

The coal mine site in Beringen in Belgium comprises 100,000 square meters of existing building heritage. This makes it the largest industrial heritage site in Flanders and unique in Europe. All other mining sites in Limburg is the only site where the industrial heart of the mine was kept.

Hello my friends

 

this saturday I captured photo I'd like to share with group. It was on Grand Prix Slovakia 2017 in Bratislava. In Suparinpei kata there is the moment when competitor performs "kiae" technique very close to the judge. It's one of my favorite moments / compositions. Everything went well - but at home I discovered that in one of photo judge blinked. It seems really funny in oposition with expression of the competitor.
