Faces in Abstract Images
#ABSTRACT

This is an open topic for anyone who has interest.

One of the things I have noticed is that at times I can see faces in my Abstract shots of nature. If I use the burn and dodge tool...they can really come out. I wish I had one prepared to post here, butt the moment i am in the middle of a few other things. Actually many other things...

I often use bulb mode at twilight when this happens. I posted a question at the Nikon forums asking if it was possible that an impression of my face or parts of it were showing up in the image...on this mode of shooting. No one had any ideas .....I think they thought I needed a shrink....lol but I am a shrink....and I can't know for sure...

So, has this happened to others? I don't mean that you make it look like a face but more that it is quite clearly a face...:)

If you have any processed..feel free to post them...

As an aside, since I have used this time of day and type of shooting as a form of meditation...at times... metaphysical questions have come up for me...when I see things that are not suppose to be there...or I should say I am not seeing them but the camera is...

Any thoughts? )

Best,
Phyllis

In my camera (Canon) there is a kind of cap to cover up the viewfinder. They recommend to use it when the camera is in the tripod (better said, when you are not looking through the viewfinder. This is because some light can enter through the viewfinder and be reflected to the sensor.
So, I guess you are using tripod (as you use bulb mode...) and maybe get your face close to the viewfinder but not covering it, so the reflection of your face gets to the sensor...
Some time ago in a forum someone uploaded a photo with the same effect, in that occasion it was an image of the sky and clouds, and a face could be seen subtle in the sky... that was the face of God, for sure... then someone gave that explanation ... bad news for believers...

Hi Carlos,
Thanks for the info...

Well, I am not displeased with the facial images since they are pans and camera movements....

I am looking through the viewfinder most of the time. ....On a tripod I looking through the viewfinder to set up where I want the image to start but then move back to see what is on he LCD screen.

I am not sure how the sensor could pick up something behind the lens...there is nothing for my face to reflect into or from.

More interesting is that it is not always my eyes or my face...but unknown faces and very often ( and uncanny) is that many look like my husband. :)

I have not seen God just yet. :)
