Batch 4 Submissions and Discussion
#FRESH IDEAS

I am looking forward your Batch 4 submissions! In the interest of not having too many rules, you can still submit whatever you want, but the focus for this Batch is small portfolios or series.

I am interested in sets of 3-5 images to be reviewed as a single unit. Of course you can submit 1, 2 or more than 5, but if you want to submit more than 5 please consider carefully if you really need that many to make your point or tell your story. Reviewing sets instead of single images should open this up to bodies of work where the point only becomes apparent in aggregate.

As always, thank your participation!

An interesting conundrum that only Jacob could solve by making an exception for this group:

"You can only submit one photo to a group each day. Wait until tomorrow."

So, to submit 5 pictures (my case) it will take 5 days and meanwhile other pictures from other people series will be submitted, so we will have quite an interleaving of different series (AKA a mess).

BTW, when this is solved, hopefully, you need to submit the last picture from your series FIRST to ensure a correct order.

Anna, thank you for figuring out that my ingenious (?!) plan won't work.

Let us go back to the previous model of submitting and evaluating individual images for Batch 4. I'll see if I can get the submission limit raised for the next batch so we can the mini portfolios.

Let us go back to the previous model of submitting and evaluating individual images for Batch 4.
Then please disregard my monk image for now. It was meant as the last one of the series.

Martin,

My image/picture is sort of halfway to the series/coherent idea that you originally posed, but now shifted on to the next submission. So, I am presenting two images in one and not a series.

The goose was sitting on a stone in shallow water and the stripes that you see are from a reflected gate in the background. The mirroring of the stripey coat is what I found so interesting and amazing.

There is certainly a way to get over this problem. The photographer creates a playlist with his photos in the order he wants and save it in his playlists Then he posts the link to the playlist on Batch 4. Lets see if it works.:

Martin, the problem is that you don't have the photos in the group gallery, if you don't mind this the rest is ok.

An to complete this, the selected series can appear in the group gallery with the link of the playlist instead of a photo, just an idea.

Great series Gianni ! Very sensitive photos and they work very well in a series !

I find your idea of a playlist very good but it's not up to me to judge, Martin is the admin of this group.

This is an idea that I suggested about a month ago in the FB Site Improvement group Marie-Claude, as an alternative in order to find an easy way to restore the popular "series" feature. I understand there were other urgent feature priorities for R & J to deal with but IMO this can work perfectly in this case.
Up to Martin of course to evaluate and run it.
Thanks for your positive feedback !

Gianni, thank you for this quick solution! Nevertheless, let's stick with single images for this Batch and series for the next one.

The submission limit will be raised in the next day or two, so series can be submitted to the group gallery. I prefer having them all in one place, because I make selections on a relative basis, which is much easier if I can see them all in one place.

Thanks Martin, lets hope that the series problem will be solved, so please ignore my playlist and consider this one as my contribution for Batch 4:

In this photo I tried to convey my vision of the opera "The Flying Dutchman" by Wagner.

It is about the legend of the ghostly ship condemned to wander the oceans forever
Because he once invoked Satan, the ghost captain is cursed to roam the sea forever without rest.

The original file was entirely different, I attempted to convey my vision with post processing. I hope I succeeded.

I really would like to hear your very sincere feedback, and don't spare me if you think I failed ;-)

Thanks,
MC

Rendezvous - seen through a veil of frosted glass which only hints at what might happen behind. A hideaway for a lovers' tryst? Anonymous location for a secret assignment? An unknown place where strangers meet by chance?

Let your imagination tell the story....

Well, the submission limit is only half the problem. The other half is that you first have to put an image into your portfolio before you can submit to a group like this or to Weekly Theme or to Critique. This needs as much or more attention raised as the limit. I have requested it in Feature Requests in Support. Not everything a person wants critique on or every "fresh" belongs in one's public portfolio imo.

Hi Ben,
Absolutely brilliant !!!
Every photo in this series has its own qualities, and the whole concept is short yet very dense.
Starting from the top left with the minimal and strong effect of the portable lamp, the original "Let there be Light" to the actual cave "quest" into a more realistic today' s word and finally to the two bottom pictures, where the series is completed with the never ending "lost in space" adventure of the human species. The last two photos are the strongest, as with in this charcoal drawing moody effect, they pose the eternal question: "Who are we and Where are we going".
My compliments for this incredible concept and congratulations on your exhibition.

I am, actually, envious. I'd gladly do Martin's work but not to the extent as of creating a Fresh 2 group :-)

Thank you for your submissions! Let's close Batch 4. I have uploaded a picture (if you want to call it that) to show where the batch ends.

Please take a look at the Batch 5 thread before submitting. We'll have another go at series!
