@Kurt until now we had 9 contests >>> https://beta.1x.com/contests/previous
and since 22-09-2017 no contest is running

ideas: trees, flowers, insects, beasts, birds, colors, old buildings, music themes, money, fog, rain, snow, autumn, spring, beach, ships, cars, trains, coffee, crayons, fruits, vegetables, hands, feet, double exposure, focus, moods, facades, roofs, ...

in my opinion, there would be contest themes for many, many years

I see. The list is long. I was just wondering why you was posting it in the forum as the recipient in this case is 1x.
My first impression was that we - the user - should organise such an event.

@Kurt sometimes it's a good idea to check what the community is thinking about - perhaps i'm the only one who loves contests? :-))

Udo - you are not the only one who's wondering why the contests seem to have stopped. I'm also waiting (un)patiently for the next one :o)

Suggesting some topics is a good idea - I think we (the community) should "bring some ideas to the table" instead of expecting others to do all the work.
My suggestions: Porcelain, wood, paper, metal.

Your equalisation of free members as trolls is offensive ....

Hi Thomas,
i didn't write, that free members are trolls - in my opinion the free members, who use this community only for their stupid advertising are (with my words) trolls. And the easiest way to keep the trolls out, is a payment for the membership - and then, if they post Viagra advertising for example, the membership is terminated (and their money is gone). That was my thought.
May be, that my thought was to fast and to easy - sorry for this - but I am annoyed about unwanted advertising.
Good light
Udo

Dear Thomas and Udo,

We still welcome real free members and we welcome their contribution to this community. At the same time we do the best we can to keep the site clean from spam and advertising. Accounts posting spam are immediately removed .

What happens to our contests?

Once we had weekly contests.

They were very interesting, fun, gambling and it seems to me very prestigious.
700 to 1000 members took part in them.
They allowed comments that contributed to more frequent communication of members and created the atmosphere of this club.

At the same time, we periodically criticized the organization of competitions for a number of shortcomings.

This led to the fact that contests transformed into some kind of imitation, in which participate, (I am ashamed to say) 20-25 members.

Previously, having participated in a contest of 1000 members and occupying, for example, 9th or 10th place, I was proud of myself. Taking the 30th place I was somewhat dissatisfied. But now I do not even have the opportunity to take 30th place :-)).

One of the mistakes I think is that the "Contests" heading was removed from the first page and driven "out of sight".

Maybe revive all the good that was and try to return to the competitions their well-deserved status?

What do you think about it ?

Vlad,
As Crew we can't participate, so I don't really pay much attention.
But I will ask.

My dear Leigh!

I wrote exactly it about these new bi-week contests. Now there is a contest of cats and dogs.
Currently 32 members are participating.

Well, maybe they will be 50.

But is it really a competition?

You write that you do not pay much attention to the competition.

Yes, all team members no longer participate in the competition.

There were reasons for this. I think that if the contest is truly anonymous, then everyone will be able to participate in it.

I also think that regardless of whether a member of the team participates in the competition or just an ordinary member 1x, for everything that happens on the site the soul should root for everyone.

Does it bother only me?

With best regards and wishes of good holidays to all.

Vladimir.

Hi Photographers

I love these contests and try to keep up. There are lots of great photos posted, some of which impress me very much. Silently and secretly I am annoyed a little, because some participants do not comply with the given topics. For the fictional example when for the topic "Berlin" images from the Eiffel Tower are uploaded. Even though these wonderful Eiffel Tower photos are, they miss the theme totally.

The current contest (Cats and Dogs) shows very few photos on which the topic was really implemented. Individual cats and dogs, even horses are offered here and diligently rewarded with likes. Why not pictures of fish or the Christmas goose?

Maybe I should not look at it that seriously and treat everyone to his pet photo with his grandmother. Could not something be done here for compliance with rules? Was not the claim of 1x.com a little higher?

Good light and good ideas to all

Dear 1X Contest Forum participants,

We as moderators have a long history with the 1X Contest. We know our members mean well, but the simple fact of the matter is many of the suggestions that have been made to control seemingly inappropriate submissions to the contests have been tried and failed. The one thing that is true is that entries that conform to the intent of the theme are the ones most likely to be chosen as winners, so it might be best to skim past those images that you find unsuitable and vote for the ones you believe deserve to win.

As Ralf stated, theme topic suggestions are welcome.

A new year is soon upon us. Best wishes to everyone and may kindness and goodness prevail!

Hi Evan,
is there a why I can't submit a picture that is already in my library? Can we participate to the contests just uploading a new photo?
Thank you and ... happy holidays!

Hello Carlo,

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately as crew, moderators are not allowed to enter the contests. Because of this I am blocked from the upload process for the contests and cannot observe how it operates. Usually if a photo is already in your gallery, you are not allowed to re-upload the same image unless it is changed somehow. It is possible a change of title may suffice.

You can try to upload a retitled image from your gallery or a new image and see if that works for you using the Contest upload page. Otherwise, we may need to rely on other non-crew members to give us the answer you are looking for. I will be curious to know the answer also.

Many thanks for your holiday wishes. Happy New Year to you!

Hi to all !

In the old days of weekly contests, we fought against friendly voting and

demanded anonymity.

It seems to be achieved. But half.

Now voting is anonymous. But there is a permanent top 50 heading.

This creates a great temptation for participants to vote against all whose work lies ahead.

Therefore, I propose to deprive all participants of the voting rights.
Nowhere in the world have I met contests where the participants themselves are judges !!!

In the meantime, I suggest not waiting for a decision on this issue and the participants themselves voluntarily give up the right to vote. What I personally did.

But comments on photos and voting results can be made transparent.

For a great popularization of the competition, I propose that also pull this rubric CONTESTS from the depths MORE and make it an independent rubric on the main page.

All the best. Vladimir.

Hi Vladimir,

I have read your suggestions and assure you management reads the Forum Posts as well. As a moderator I have no control over how the contest is managed--only management makes these decisions, but member opinion is taken into consideration. I expect we will both have to wait and see. Meanwhile, you have planted your flag here in the Forum.

All the best to you.

Of course we have to wait.

And the management will be waiting. And will be watching.

If there is no reaction from the members,

then there will not be any reaction from the management either.

And they will be right :-).

Well, let's wait ...

Thanks again, Evan!

Vladimir,

it's the same at photocrowd, guru shots, particpants vote, see the ranking, and of course you can vote your own and nothing else. But that won't take you far. As long as everybody is honest enough to vote for works perceived good photographs, the majority will probably count as fair judgement largely.
I'm playing around on Guru Shots, fun, quick & dirty. I often wonder about photos in top ten, but also I send in photos I did not find spectacular and made it to the top 100 of thousands of photographs easily with it. I would not worry too much, these contests are considered to be entertaining in my view. And beauty is in the eye of beholder, always.

Cheers,
Mike

One day one man fell off a cliff.

But when he fell, he managed to cling to a branch of a small tree that grew out of a rock cleft.

Hanging in the middle of the cliff, he began to shout:

-Hey, somebody, help!

- In response, silence...

- Hey, is anyone here? Help !

- Silence

- Hey !!!

- Well, well, let go of your hands and calmly fall.

- What ? ! Who is it ?

- It's me, my son. It's me, your God !

...

Hey! Hey! Is there anyone else ?
