I would like some advise by expert curators on this picture before i send to be curated. The name oceanic feeling comes from philosopher Romain Rolland discussion with Freud. A sensation of eternity and being one with the external world. A sensation energy emerging from within as per the waves of the ocean. Thsi is what i am trying to convey by the wave i took.

Thanks for your review
Paul,
The theme of a 'sensation of eternity and being one with the external world' is an ambitious one. You'll need a good title to nudge viewers to think about that concept. The ocean is a good symbol for the idea. The waves crash powerfully - or lap gently, the tide rolls in and out, always on time, to remind us of Nature's harmony. We are part of that harmony.
It's a good wave photo in my opinion - your timing was perfect to catch parts of the wave breaking to frame the middle part that is just about to break. The spray is frozen by the fast shutter speed, and shows the power of the sea very well. The editing looks OK at first impression, with a good tonal range and minimal clipping of highlights or shadow except at the top right where detail isn't important anyway. A closer look shows the tones slightly 'posterized'. The gray tones have been individualized and don't smoothly transition into one another. Maybe that's a result of the fast shutter speed freezing tones and details that we see smoothly blurred when viewing a wave with our eyes, or increasing contrast or texture in the editing step.
The composition is tight. Some viewers might wish for a bit more on the right side.
Thanks for sharing the photo here in Critique. You've been here before so you know the need for patience. I'm sure some other critics will offer ideas.
Here's wishing you good luck in Curation. I see 'The Librarianist' and 'After the Storm' have both been Published. Congratulations!

Hi Paul welcom back I love to see titles on images but under the way 1x.com has gone titles are not visible in selection any more. So your image alone must have the power to please the many. Composition wise your image works in my view. I have had a play with a few things not sure if any of them have added for power to you image. - Nik Tools Tonal contras to add texture. - Some dodge and burn tool work tp help contrast and try and get that 3D look.
Hi Paul,
this is a very nice wave photo and you have certainly made the bw conversion deliberately. Nevertheless, my soul is crying out for the "50 shades of blue" here, so I colored it in afterwards, even if it's only one variation of blue. I also add some glow to draw more attention to the wave and less to the spray. Of course, all this is purely a matter of taste.
Greetings
Udo
Hello, Paul
Welcome to our forum and thank you for sending your image to us. It is very advisable to get critique before sending the image to curation. You have already received some great advise from my friends. I will agree on some of their advise while adding my own. First of all I think the theme of your work here is great. Allocating it with a rising wave makes it even more powerful in terms of impact on the viewer who will take their time to find pieces of themselves in the image. What I think you could have done better here is about the focus area of your image. I would havebeen drawn much deeper into your image had the rising part of the image, the part towards the peak of the wave been tack sharp or lets say been more in focus. I think that is the climax of the sensation it arouses in me. Another insight might be about the composition. The upper left part with the dense white foamy water drops could have been left out if it were possible of course. I tried a crop below but it is surely up to you. I would not know whether this image would be published as it looks now but this is my review of it. As a matter of fact 100 people can come up with 100 different interpretations about the same image. That is one of the most powerfull aspects of photography to me. I wish you good light...Çiçek
