Dear friends in  critique forum

I'm kindly for your advice and opinion about this photograph.

this picture title : rice farmland

2:1 Hig-resolution panorama  Three photos combined

In this picture I like wide golden rice field, rural scenery and mountain ,clouddscape form a scenic vast view.

But this picture is not selected.

I think it may lack artistic quality, like a postcard.

Chih Yuan Lin,

A vey nice panorama.  Thank you for sharing it with us here in Critique Forum.  Shooting as you did with three frames for a high resolution file would make it suitable for a very large print.

One suggestion is that you cool the colour overall, and especially the sky.  For this sample edit the overall colour was made cooler in Photoshop with 'Image>Adjustments>Color Balance', and then the sky was selected with 'Select>Sky', and the colour changed by about 25 Cyan with the same 'Image>Adjustments>Color Balance'.  While it was still selected, the sky was lightened slightly with 'Image>Ajustments>Brightness/Contrast'.

The colour of the field is not as strong after these changes, but contrasted with the more-blue sky it still stands out well.

These are suggestions only.  It's always best if the photographer make the final composition and editing decisions with the photo's theme and purpose in mind.

One small detail - the colour profile for this photo is sRGB v1.31 (Canon).  The website converts that to the internet standard sRGB IEC61966-2.1 when the photo is uploaded.  I'm not sure if there's a big difference between those two profiles, but some colour profiles can surprise you by displaying different colours on your monitor than they do on the website.  It's good to convert the profile for the copy you are uploading so you can see the same colours as viewers on the website.  That's done in Photoshop with 'Edit>Convert to Profile'.  The 'Destination Space' should be sRGB IEC61966-2.1.

Steven

Thank you very much for your sincere explanation and excellent advice.

Indeed, my original Cr3 row file was not that warm. I change it too much because of my subjective preference.

  Thanks a lot.

Hello Chih Yuan Lin,

Thank you for sending the photo to this forum. I agree with my colleague Steven T. I added a little more contrast in different places of the image to make it "come out" to the viewer a little.

By the way, I also used to have EOS R, RP and R5 and in my opinion they all had very good matrices but the best was RP :-)

Best regards
