Hello guys! I would be glad to have your opinions and suggestions about that image. This is in Kapadokya, Turkiey. I was waiting for the infamous baloons so i could get some landscape shots with that feature, which never happened because there were no flight conditions. I've been there for 3 days straight, and all these days were very cloudy, what is a particular challenge for my EF-S55-250 f/4-5,6 IS II lens and Cannon T7 given that the lens is very dark and the camera doesnt work well at high ISO (please correct me if im wrong here), plus i didnt have my tripod with me.
I took that shot on my last day there, after being noticed there would be no baloon flight. At first i was frustrated, but now im thankfull so i could focus on that particular shot without trying to worry in compose it with the baloons . In fact, i've realized that frame you guys see on the pic by the day i arrived there, but the lack of light (i guess) made the scene a bit dull. I think the beauty of that scenario rellies on the light reflect of each of these rocks, which each one have really specific colours to show. Since i got home and work on the travel photos, i noticed that i had shot this - almost -exact same frame all these 3 days i was there, but the one you see is the one it worth show, as i have said, the others just seem too dull. I've tried to compose it in a way that i could show the sharp pointed shape of the rocks on the bottom, the myriad of collors on that white centered rock, wich i think i fail, althougt if you strive a litle you can see that what appears "white" reflect ciano, blue and orange tones as well. I don't know, but maybe this white rock is transforming itself in what it is the rock on upper/right lol, as you can see, there is also that rock with that green/orange gradient in it. Least but not less important, the background consists on the really mountain which all those smaller rocks come along whit it.
I've noticed that there was some light beams touching specific spots on the scenario, so i rush to lay down - and then have some rest while waiting - and wait that light beams hit the scene i've already composed. When it finnaly occured, i've a few shots with different SS and focal lenght. I think it took like 5 or 4 min to that light beams disappear.
So, what are you feelings about the composition? On curation that was the main feedback for space of improvement, i would be glad to know your opinion. Also, i would like to request your recommendations about the processing. I did it all on lightroom (i dont know how to use photoshop properly), and to be honest, when i look at this image from a certain distance - or when it is in miniature -, i don't like the results of trying to highliting that sun beams, which i did increasing the exposure/highlits on that lightned area, and decrease the exposure, blacks and shadows on the shadow areas on the above. Actually, when i look at it on that way it seems kinda gross, i dont know, but it seems like the picture is dirty or something lol (im refering to those two darken "lines" on the above). As i said in curation, there was acutally 2 "more noticeable" light beams, and those shadow areas im refering was, in fact, a deep area on that mountain - wich looks pretty flat, i think -, what gived me the feeling that it was a light beam at first, but actually was just the well fit contrast between a lightned area sided by the shadow of the own object it is touching.
My settings on that was SS 1/320, f/7,1, ISO 400 and 194mm focal lenght.*forgot to mention, it is cropped in 3935 x 4919 (of 4k x 6k).
Im struggling with english, so i hope its undestandable lol.
Last time you guys give me really valuable tips! So i would be very glad to have your feedback once again. Oh, if there is any suggestion about what did i could do on field in order to enhance that scenario, i would also gladly accept it! Last time some of you did some processing in order to (literally) show me the critique, so i wonder, if any of you need the raw file of that pic i would gladly send it.
Best regards!
Hi and welcome - I feel I must come down off the fence and say this image is not one that will do well in selection. Composition wise it's ok quality wise it's not - It lackS power and impact it needs a good focal point to help the view explore the fine imahe in depth. Everythis seems too far away to enjoy. I have tried to improve things back in Photoshop see attached but failed in my view to do so - Dehaze +60 Topaz AI sharpen. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the critique, Daniel, i appreciate!it helps a lot. Even thought i think i got your point about the "lack of power", i dont really know if add dehaze is a good move, i think it kills the mood i was trying to capture. I've think about take that shot on 250mm insetad of 190, but then i would loose my comp.
*edit: oh, forgot to mention, what do you mean by "not one that will do in selection", what selection? Are you talking about publishing? Or getting awarded or something like that? I saw my other photo is in awarded qeue and i dony know how its works, do i have to do something or just wait? I accidentaly submit it into award qeue or it has been selected? I would be glad if anyone could answer this hahah
Thank you very much, Daniel, as soon i got home i will try to figure out how to do it without losing the mood. Best regards!
