Hello, I present a photo for discussion. as I have said in several previous forums, this genre is unfamiliar to me. The area I shoot the most is wildlife photography and at my age (71) I could not yet venture into others. But the comments about my previous post and especially those of Mike Kreiten have inspired me to review my travel archives though, taken on my visits to several cities in recent years. I say touristy because all these photos were taken as mementos without any pretensions of artistry. 

The building in this photo is the Palazzo Modello in Trieste, built in an eclectic historical style. The photo was processed in Photoshop and I adjusted the perspective considerably, the sky was very cluttered with clouds so I selected and made it black. I transferred the photo to black and white by making a few adjustments in Camera Raw for better balance. The photo is tightly cropped, the original photo did not allow better cropping.

I think I got a satisfactory result, but I would ask for a competent opinion. 

I used my wife's Camera Canon PowerShot G7 X MarkII

I have two suggestions. First the building needs more contrast. I took a screenshot in to Photoshop and a applied and S-Curve adjustment using the curves tool - lowered the shadow at the 1/3 line and increased the midtones at the 1/2 line and also the hightlight as a smooth curved.  

The second is I don't feel the pure black sky works.  It is very unnatural and just doesn't seem right.  I not sure what it really looked like but a cloudy sky with high contrast and perhaps motion blur could work.

Thanks for submitting your photo to the critique forum. There are few actions to be taken in order to improve your image. Your image would benefit from being symmetrical, Also, my college Mike comment on the solid black is what I feel, finally the contrast should be increased.is quite useful. I took your photo to Photoshop to increase the contrast, I also used the feature -: Sky replacement where I have a selection of skies, and I used one of them, to illustrate my point., Finally, I took it to Topaz AI to enhance sharpness and reduce the noise.

It is my view only. Hope it will help. Hope you like it.

Dear Arnon,

I appreciate your additional corrections. I also used Topaz Photo AI to reduce noise and improve sharpness, but now I see that after re-treatment it gets an even better result.

The contrast enhancement is also very pleasing to me. 

Following Mike's advice I wanted to change the sky but it turned out I didn't have a suitable one.

Thanks again for the advice and the adjustments made, I will keep them in mind in my future work!

المبنى في هذه الصورة هو قصر موديلو في ترييستي، بُني على طراز تاريخي انتقائي. عولجت الصورة باستخدام برنامج فوتوشوب، وعدلت المنظور بشكل ملحوظ. كانت السماء مليئة بالغيوم، لذا حددتها وجعلتها سوداء. ثم نقلت الصورة إلى الأبيض والأسود بإجراء بعض التعديلات باستخدام برنامج Camera Raw لتحسين التوازن. الصورة مقصوصة بشكل دقيق، فالصورة الأصلية لم تسمح بقص أفضل.

أعتقد أنني حصلت على نتيجة مرضية، ولكنني أود أن أطلب رأيًا مختصًا.
