I wanted to take pictures of waves and rocks, so I shot along the coast of Kanagawa. The only ND that could be attached this time was ND1000, so the iso was raised, which was a compromise.

This time, I want you to pay attention to the composition.

When shooting

I lowered the tripod/camera to a height just high enough to be covered by the waves, and took the picture at the moment the waves were coming toward me.

To create more impact, I made the lower part of the photo (foreground) as large as possible.

During development

To emphasize the bubbling and flowing waves, the contrast was increased to make the photo more crisp and clear.

In addition, the waves were made slightly colder and the sunset at the top of the photo was made slightly warmer to emphasize the evening time and the presence of the waves, respectively.

Please let us know if there are any improvements to the composition or retouching.

Thanks for submitting this fine image. I see that it has been published so I won't belabor my comments. There's no arguing with success.

I like the composition and don't see a great need for improvement. You might want to crop just a bit off the bottom but that's a matter of personal choice.

In terms of editing I feel the blownout sun overpowers the rest of the image. I would suggest using multiple shot and doing some exposure blending to overcome that.

Hope this helps. Congrats on being published.

Best wishes,

Hi I see Mike Schaffner has given you some wonderful advice well done Mike. Can I just say I think this good looking image could look a lot better. If Processed with contrast and quality in mind. I don't have the Raw file but I've tried my best with what we have here. Composition no change wonderful depth. Photoshop / Camera Raw Linier Grad To try and bring the sky detail back. Shadows opened up so we can see more detail. Nik Tools Tonal Contrast to add texture. Some Dodge and Burn tool work on the water and sky. Last Topaz AI Sharpen with noise reduction. For that Pro look.

Hello again,

awarded or not awarded ....

I would definitely think about replacing the sky (with one I photographed myself, of course). On the fly ... just to think about it ....

Greetings

Udo

Hello, @ I_ha__to

Welcome to our forum and thank you for submitting this beautiful Seascape. I did not have the opportunity to critique on it before.. You already got some great advice from my friends. I would just want to say a few words that I think are helpful. Your image has a good composition and it draws you into it. Yet to make this more effective, there are some important changes to be made. They have already been told you by my Friends. I will just stress them once more. Try to be more accurate in straightening the horizon line. in these kinds of images seeing a straight rise line is very important. the application of the rule of thirds is quite efficient as seen from my screen. However, the highlights were not controlled efficiently. There is important loss of texture in your sky, and because of that my friends had to interfere with some sky replacement techniques. Improving the density of the red sky is also effective. next to this from my point of view enhancing the highlights and the whites in the waves is also very necessary here. With these minor changes your image will have a much higher chance to be published. I wish you good light. Cicek

Hello, @ I_ha__to

This is not a very good edit but I think it makes a point in what I meant. Best wishes Cicek
