CONTEXT
It was a Sunday morning and I could not sleep. Too much stress I though. Too much stress about my project here and could not stop thinking. So at around 6 am I decided to get my gear and visit that old steel melt shop here in Jamshedpur. I arrived there around 7 am and saw the incredible light. It was comparable calm somehow in a way which I have not felt since month in such shop. People where doing their work almost do not recognize me. The fresh shift has started early that morning and the reduced manpower which is usual on Sundays was visible. I did not had much a concept kind of thing and decided spontaneous what I wanted to capture. I had the idea to make a photo series about the work flow in a steel melt and casting shop. So the basic where there and all where on work now I stand there with my camera and captured a lots of frames. The picture shows the refractory shop inside a steel melt shop in which the ladles getting revamped. After a couple of heats the refractory needs to be renewed. For this the still hot ladle will be attached to a tilting device and brought in to a horizontal position. Now an excavator with a huge hydraulic chisel will remove all the collected slag and old refractory. The slag and old material will be collected in a pit below the tilting device. At the time the pit is full a huge excavator will load all the material on a dump truck like shown on the image. This develops a  lot of dust which is hot and really not nice.

THE PICTURE
I decided to use my 24 mm as this lens has an incredible sharpness with using open aperture. I adjusted the ISO on 800 as this raises the contrast range nicely. The light was not easy as the exposure had to be manage to have enough details on the surrounding. Caused by the dust I could not go closer as this dust is so fine and would have penetrated my camera or damage something. On this shot I used aperture 3,5.

PROCESSING
As always I developed the picture in Capture NX2 and processed further in PS4. With several layer copies I worked out the background to get more light. The dust part I treated also with an additional layer copy with contrast raising and erased the rest of the image. I also did some colour correction as on high ISO the colours are always a bit strange. I worked around 30 minutes on the picture.
