Cold Winter School Day
An old 1 room school house down the road from where I live. Unfortunately, a serial arsonist (yet to be caught) torched it this summer and it's now gone.

For me, that lonely light bulb on the wall completes this image. Beautiful portrait of lives that has passed through those doors. I love photographs like this one, where stories appear in my mind....
Beautifully and compassionately captured with great balance and a wonderful palette of greys.
Scott Crouse  Thank you Matti. This has been the my favorite picture that I have ever taken. It was a cold miserable day when I took the picture but I knew I had something special. Since then I've taken at least 100,000 shots and I've yet to get one that speaks to me the way this one does. I'm so glad others have enjoyed it as well.

It is wonderful that you have such a wonderful record of the old building. The wonderful light sets the mood. I almost feel like putting on a coat...
Always, Cile
Scott Crouse  Thanks Cile! I loved this old building and it was one cool evening when I took the shots. I had to use the tripod and I remember how cold the metal was against my fingers. But it was worth every freezing moment.
Cile Bailey  Absolute worth it!!!!!
Always, cile

Yes I like the way You choose two tree together with the school.
Scott Crouse  Thanks! I wanted the trees in the shot to help accent the fact that it was winter.

Nice render for this shot ! I like this B&W...
Scott Crouse  Thanks Olivier. The other version I have of this shows the entire image in a blueish glow. Wasn't sure how well that version would be received so I went with the B&W. I hope I'm not breaking any rules here, but if folks are interested in seeing this in it's blueish glow, it's over here; http://farm1.static.flickr.com/148/354308234_0b6699e475_b.jpg
Olivier  This other version is very attractive also!;) But my preference stays for the B&W....
Scott Crouse  Olivier, thank you very much. I've always been torn between the 2, one day it's the blue, the next the BW. ;-)

wonderful light here
Scott Crouse  Thanks Karin. Would have love to catch the building on an evening like this with the inside lights on to get the glow in the windows but could never find anyone inside at night.

Beautiful study Scott, the light certainly creates the mood. A real shame its no longer there
Scott Crouse  Thanks Stephen! The other weird thing is that this is the first print that I ever sold and 2 days later the place burnt to the ground. That building waa probably 150 years old and 2 days after I sell a pic of it, it burns. Creeped me out.
