I really like the lighting here just enough to keep us guessing but sufficient to add drama without being too dark. I would like to understand the set up if possible. Thank you Richard.

Richard Spurdens HI Gerard, the lighting was as follows an overhead light fitted with a gridded beauty dish and pointing down it was also flagged to stop it spilling onto the background.
There was also two other lights one pointed towards the backdrop (on the rhs of the subject as we look at it and one on the lhs of the subject set back and point towards the model to lift the materiel very slight and give the shape of her figure too with a tough of rim light. Hope this helps.

Excellent work, Richard. This similar to one of my own photo, although moodier, more intense and interesting. What was your motivation for the disheveled hair, the model's face in shadow (which I really like) and the strange position of her right arm as opposed to the classical gesture she is making with her left?
