No thanks, I'm perfect the way I am
As a culture we are bombarded by the media reminding us endlessly of all our physical failings, women far more than men. Wrinkles, breasts too small, too droopy, tummy too big, bottom too big, always measured against some ideal that doesn?t exist, as if a woman can be expressed as an equation. How can an equation distill the beauty and magic that is woman.
The Marketing Machine and its dual enforcers, big pharma and cosmetic medicine never tell women that they are perfect just the way they are. It?s always?..?you just need a little of this, a cut here, a shot of deadly poison there, some snail slime cream to make you younger, make your spots go away, and on and on?Oh! And that will only be $500, $5000, $50,000 please.
Cosmo cover girls and playboy bunnies exist only in print. What women are endlessly told, they simply must do to be beautiful has nothing to do with medicine and everything to do with commerce via the destruction of self-esteem. They are all perfect in every way just the way they are.

While I do agree with the sentiment of your story, I can tell you that there are some deformities that happen naturally. My wife thanks her plastic surgeon for his skill in fixing mother nature's mistakes, and I thank him for giving her the confidence which has made our relationship what is it today.
Chris Johnston  Kyle that is an entirely different matter.....Thank you for your comment.

The majority of photos on this website got "a little bit here and there" also. Irony?
Chris Johnston  not sure i understand the comment
math wood  The majority of photos on this website is edited in some way. Its like digital "beauty surgery". Its so normal nowadays. Today its actually SPECIAL to not use photoshop or some equal program in photography. Maybe even this photo was "beauty adjusted" in some way. So i think it makes an interesting statement :)

Clever concept, Chris:-)
Chris Johnston  Thanks Ben, I thought a long time about putting a surgical gloveon teh hand, but decided that would be too sanitary, I left the hand as is, scared, dirty nails to add impact to the image.

Hi Chris a wonderful shot and a very important truth you have brought up in your introduction. This is how marketing works, also in other subjects of our daily life.We keep on buying things we actually don't need at all. Thanks for sharing.
Chris Johnston  I have struggled to make the cut on 1x, as my debut piece I am quite pleased, thank you for your comments, it means a lot.
