TANZAN EYES
Photo series by Nicolino Sapio
The sad reality of certain conditions of life is an abnormal problem that has always made me feel immensely small. I wanted to go, to breathe the smell of poverty, to live with them in their world, because things do change up close views and include more!
I went to Tanzania with a great hope in your heart and with a clear preview the final result of my first report.
I respected their dignity and I did not consider these individuals as delegates of the so-called "customization without the person." I tried to represent these children in a different way, not as representatives of a class but as individuals.
I photographed the reality, and within the limit of maximum respect, I showed the difficulty of life there is in those places. Of course, a fine equal to all reports, but I tried to make different through the eyes of the original!
All the subjects taken, were the real stars of my shots and have been living the role with enthusiasm and pride. It was they who chose me, I have simply served to photograph in order to better describe the magic of those moments eternal.
All the faces look in the room, because between me and them there was a significant contact I have tried to capture to be able to re-establish also between subject and observer.
I expressed myself in color because the reality is not black and white and then because of their bright colors are too good to be deleted. In those tones is the warmth of their land, the nuances of their souls, the simplicity of their being ... Africa of a thousand emotions, for me, is in color!
These are pictures documenting my journey, an important trip to a very different reality from ours, but the most beautiful picture I took is within me!
I have seen and experienced a few days the "third world", I became aware, I was scared, shocked, excited, but then charged and enriched me like nothing else in the world

I suppose it depends on what measure you use to define rich and poor. The people in your photos look happy enough and content. Maybe they don't have money and riches as we think of them but does that make people poor?
Please tell me that after your series called Tamzan Eyes you are going to do One Called Tamzan Ears featuring more people from Tamzania :)
Nicolino Sapio  Hello Martin
Only after returning from Tanzania I know who are the poor people, but this is a long story ...
thanks

each and one of these is a work of art Nicolino. You have portrayed them in the way you exactly wanted. In each photo I don't see the sensationalism of poverty in Africa but sentient being with dignity. In that aspect your series is magnificent. As you can see in my work, I feel very close to the way you think of photography. I'm really glad to see this and hope to see more. !
Nicolino Sapio  Thank you Nicolas, thank you very much
