She has a beautiful face, Andre. It is so deeply expressive and warm. This is a lovely capture and I think that the choice of the mirror and the reflection of her is brilliant, really. It adds so much depth and interest, almost a psychological resonance to it. Great!

What a nice face, Is it winter, she's dressed rather warm. Do you have a relationship with her? A relative maybe? Or an in-law.

Andre,

this shot just oozes everything, happiness, contentment, love and the life richness Phyllis talks about.

So when is your exhibition :-)
Andre du Plessis  Dunno Chris. After I win the lottery. Thanks for the comment - this was an attempt to try and use the reflection from the mirror to add something different, although I realise that is is quite a worn motif. Thanks for the kind words on this image.

Andre...I feel like i know Ivy - like she is familiar to me, but I cannot figure out why! She is glowing in this shot - an inner radiance captured here. Oh she will love this picture! I feel contented looking at her here - as though she has had a full and rich life. Not rich with money, but rich with giving love. You have done it again...shown us this part of SA with care. Thank you...Phyllis
Andre du Plessis  Thank you Phyllis. As I mentioned below, this was my 1st outing to Cowie, and Ivy's house was a afterthought as I was driving back. I have discovered that most of my favourite ones are indeed those 'last' stops that I do. Maybe one needs some warming up, and just when you think 'Well, that's it - I am going home now' .... that is when you come across something special. Same with Lorraine, and various others. Ivy was most hospitable, and took to this session as if she had done it many times before:) She used to do domestic work, and now lives in retirement. The family structures here are very supportive, with the children partly supporting the parents in older age.

the light here is simply superb Andre, was is the result of some interior reflection on the ground from the light outside?
Andre du Plessis  Yes, if I remember correctly, I drew the curtains from a window behind me, leaving just a bit to shine (through netting) onto the lower part of the white surface on the left. It was strong sunlight outside so I needed to darken things to avoid too much contrast at capture stage. Cheers, Andre

Good portrait, and I really like the composition where you have the mirror on the left.
I also think that right side of her face is a little bit dark compare to the left side.
But, I really like this portrait.
Andre du Plessis  Thank you Ivan. I looked again at the RAW to check on that light, and her right side of h face is indeed quite dark on that as well. The light reflection from the White surface on the left to blame for that. However, my preference remains to have unequal light over the frame in most of my work, and I compose with that in mind.

Excellent portrait of the friendly looking man.
Nicolas Marino  I think it's a "she" Jacob :)
Jacob Tuinenga  In that case, I apologize to the woman :)
Andre du Plessis  Hi Jacob. Thanks! This is Ivy Swarts, and she lives with her husband in a rambling old cottage in a forest. I have never visited this area before, so I'm glad to have this community now also form part of my PF.
