The fact that you got that contrast and separation from the action wave to your background is very unique. I sense some very thoughtful post processing here. Would love to have seen the Original capture. I assume you are on the beach ?... 600mm + ?

some times when i see photos like this i say to myself: how such photos can be taken? excellent shutter speed, wonderfull BW editing and good cropping(maybe) make this scence freeze in a way that you feel the beauty and the danger of nature that must be fought and be enjoyd by human beings. maybe the D3 and 80-200 help you to take this photo but the main element for creating this picture, as Dr.Akira said, is your talent. thank you for taking this photo , and thank for sharing that to us to get impress. waiting for you next pics. best regard. Chistoph - surfing photography is notoriously difficult. There always seems to be that lack of light somewhere ... usually on the face of the surfer. And when he is lit, the other bits go belly-down. This is a superb image, with all boxes ticked. Many congratulations on a wonderfully difficult thing to do.

Hi Christoph, this is really fantastic shot. Very different to your other works, but it show you can do anything you want. The BW conversion is so contrast, sharp and very detail. I wonder the color version must also be great.
