Very dramatic ...scary even. It's a pity we don't have the technical possibility to see it a little bigger. Such photos are best viewed full screen. Excellent ..congratulations!

Mel, After reading the story I can almost see you and Nick and your excitement about being there! The design made by the sky is fantastic to put it mildly...you had to be thrilled when you saw this shot! Mel Brackstone  LOL! It was eerily quiet as the cloud flew towards us, I didn't hear any thunder or see any lightning. Once the wind started to blow hard, and we raced to the car, that's when the noise started! That's when I realised we might have actually been in danger. The thunder that came with the heavy rain was SO loud, and SO close, it was a very intense storm, as it turns out! Yes, we sat and ate fish and chips while the storm passed over us....lol! Wow - Mel another great image - is that part of cyclone Yasi?
Mel Brackstone  Guido this was the month after Yasi, however in the whole of Queensland we were suffering from constant and violent storms for a couple of months both before and after Yasi. This was taken near Brisbane though, and Brisbane wasn't affected by the cyclone.

Mel Brackstone  Roland, it's called a "Shelf Cloud" I believe, or a "Guster." Basically it's a storm front that's heading over the bay.
