Alone in the storm
The Harp-Seal-pups are nursed for only two weeks. In this time they grow rapidly because of the fat-rich milk of their mothers. When the nursing time is over the mothers leave and the pups have to learn to survive under the harsh arctic conditions.

Gorgeous image Werner.

Looks, seeing the snow flurries blowing in front of the pup's eyes, that it was quite a bit windy, and cold to I suppose, by that time.

Best regards, Harry
Werner Bollmann  Dear Harry,

yes, indeed, on the packice of the Gulf of St. Lawrence storms occur very fast and all of a sudden. The snow was from the night before. The situation was nearly perfect. Unfortunately the light was already a little bit hard. 20 minutes later the helicopter had to leave the ice, because the storm becomes too heavy.

Best regards,

Werner
