This is a great shot. I was wondering how you got the sky so well exposed. Soft GND?
Mattias Söderberg  Hi Karl,
Thank you for your nice comment on my first photo in this site! Actually I used a hard grade GND on this one. Some basic work with two different adjustment layers in CS4 to get nice structure and coverage in the cliff at the left side, and still have the exposure on the sky that I wanted. Thanks again for your nice comment! /M

very interesting, definitely inspiring, but why do evil, this is amazing, I see no evil
Mattias Söderberg  Hi,
Thank you so much for you comment and it is a good question... why Dream Evil? It is a long story, but I'll try to keep it short. I name all my "seascape" photos with inspiration from the late Ronnie James Dio (former singer of hard rock band Rainbow, Black Sabbath and DIO). All my photos have a "thought" behind them. A feeling of some sort. And when I post my photos on photo web sites in Sweden I allways write a little something about how the photo came about, what my feelings were, and why I named it the way I did. In this case, I had dark thoughts going out to the clifs. And on top of that I was too late (missed a ferry) and I was not very happe with missing app 1 hour of really nice waves and hard sea. So my feelings led me to this titel Dream Evil which is the titel song of one of Ronnie James Dios albums. Maybe you don't see the evil in this one, but try listening to the song while looking at the image again, maybe you'll feel it. :)
Once again, thanks for your comment! /M
asphoto  Hi Mattias.I taught about your words few days.Maybe, the right question is "Why people excited fear more then happiness?".The filling of fear, pain and temptations is stronger then joy and happiness. For artists is very problematic to show happiness. It seems paradoxical but it is easier to show trouble.Often, the joy of looking cheap. The real question is whether we have forgotten to look forward to? Hope you understand me.But it does not mean that your photo is not great...
Mattias Söderberg  Hi again! Yes, I think I understad what you mean and I agree. Fear, anger and similar feelings are more easy to show I guess. Glad you liked my photo anyway! /M
asphoto  Yes,you understand me.But you can try with beauty and happiness. You will see what is the problem.Fear you can recognize easier then happiness because, fortunately, people often act happiness.I comfort to the next Your photos...

Beautiful almost monochrome image. A regret for the fine white strip above the horizon and above the first rock.
Mattias Söderberg  Thanks Reinhardt,
My first pic published, so I'm happy! Regarding the white strip I might have used a bit to much sharpening, it doesn't bother me much though. Thanks for your nice comment! /M

Wonderful light, depth and tones.
Great use of slow shutter speed to soften the water nicely.
Beautiful work Mattias.

Best regards, Harry
Mattias Söderberg  Thanks Harry for your nice comment! This was my first pic published here (3rd try) so I'm happy to be a very small part of this place with such amazing pictures. /M
Harry Eggens  You're welcome Mattias. My pleasure.

One out of three is very good because it not that easy to get images published over here. Really hope to see more of your beautiful work in the near future.

Best regards and have a great weekend,

Harry
