Veil Nebula
Total exposure time 4hrs 20min. Acquired with a ST8300 (Mono SBig camera using RGB filters) through a 130mm apo refractor working at F/5.2 .
The Veil is a remnant of a supernova that exploded over ten thousand years ago, and is expanding outward at a velocity of about 62 miles per second. Its about 50 light years in length and at distance of 1300 light years from us.

Extraordinary... but I find it hard to come to terms with the fact that the cloud expanded by about 1 million miles whilst you made the exposure... so I'll just meditate a while in it's ethereal beauty!
