I Like this very much. Some kind of delicacy...given by the smooth collors and the bubles..., like any treasure, hope you keep it for a long time, because it´s beautiful.
Congrats.

Phyllis:
I have seen photo for the longest time and it always just made me want to dive in and retrieve that gold. Even though I can't swim. But now that I have read how it was all put together, I did get a good laugh at it. It has inspired me to try several challenges with my bathtub that sits under a bright sunny window. Surely I will not come up with anything, but the experiment will be fun.
Lela
Phyllis Clarke  Thank you Lela...Sometimes you have to 'make do ' with what you have...:)) You would be surprised at what you can make in the sink..I tried the bathtub too...it has a lot of possibilites...good luck to you... and thanks again..:) Phyllis

It is absolutely unfathomable that I somehow failed to comment on this beautiful piece. Thanks to the thread on Harmony I have discovered it. Indeed this is a little treasure as you aptly title it! Natural beauty that is difficult to replicate let alone capture. Our cameras are indeed irreplaceable tools when we realise that they allow us the privilege of capturing these fleeting moments that few would have ever seen but for your eyes & your machine. Thank you Phyllis for sharing this.
Phyllis Clarke  Gerry you might have - over time there have been lost comments on various photos - just some glitches. I have a feeling from your comment you might not realize what it is. Well, no one would, I don't think. It is my kitchen sink. :) I have done a few pieces of kitchen sink photography so that I could keep taking pictures even when I cannot get out so easily. The marble is a little treasure that I find it Greece on the Island of Naxos..and brought home. It went back and forth..when I moved there..and finally now it is here with me again in the US. I keep it on my desk. It is a small piece of unpolished marble from my favorite beach Pyragaki. I used a vegetable cleaner/sprayer to make the bubbles/motion. It is a bit tricky because you have to use one hand for the camera - one hand for the sprayer and then keep cleaning up the water...as you go along..The sink is under a window..which in Winter has very bright light..or I should say did have before we put in a screened in porch...The color was a lighter blue - the sink is stainless steel and it absorbs the outside colors..this time from the sky...I increased the color a bit..:) Thank you for liking it and for making it a fave. :) Much appreciated. Colours, light, composition (and what a concept behind! -I 'm Greek as well :-)
Congratulations!
Phyllis Clarke  Stergios - thank you - I think it is the Greek light coming from inside the marble..but lets not tell anyone! :) I don't know where you live in Greece, but this beach is on Naxos..called Pyragaki - very fine sand. There is a small hill on one part which is studded with marble. When the sea washes over it from the wind, with the Greek light, it is impossible to describe to anyone who does not know Greek light..what it looks like. So..I am so glad I caught a bit of that here. :) Phyllis
Stergios  Phillis, my origin is Thessaloniki but I work (and mostly live) in Brussels where the light includes all the gamut of grey :-(. I have never been to Naxos but I very well know what you are talking about!
My best wishes to you, keep on like this...

I was waiting for the moment to see something new from you, Phyllis. I love this piece for its simplicity and yet it has such a powerful impact. The colours are great and it seems like there is a larger image, outside the one I see. Great work!

Phyllis Clarke  Ulf, Yes, I was waiting too:) Thank you for you generous comments they make me feel that you have seen this image on many levels. I am not sure if you have read my comments to Faddoush (below) but, perhaps this is what you refer to by 'the larger image' outside of the one you see. My kitchen sink is my new darkroom! Phyllis

I'm so happy to see something published from you. A winner.
Phyllis, I love this colorful and fresh photo whatever it represents, golden leaf, mother of pearl and gold, a jewel lost in the swimming pool... you created magic!
Phyllis Clarke  Oh Marie, I just love your description of what it could be - your imagination is fantastic. It is a very very small swimming pool. See my comments to Faddoush as to what it is, and where the light comes from. Of course it probably has Greek light inside it too! Thank You Marie so very much. Phyllis
MMarie  We, ladies are very lucky to have such "swimming pools" where vegetables can play with knifes, very dangerous games, where forks can shine with bubble soap too :))

Whatever it is Phyllis, I definitely love it, and it is on the front page... :)

Great title! I love the colours in this very interesting composition. Makes me think of gold leaf. Congrats!, Andre
Phyllis Clarke  Thank you dear Andre! Probably not a treasure for most, but has special meaning for me...the object that his. I left a comment for Fadi, which tells the story. Andre as always thanks for your support here a One X. Phyllis
Andre du Plessis  Fascinating how you made this. I know so little about macro. But having worked in Greece for some time, I have to agree with Dragan that you did very well to transfer that special memory over to us. I enjoy this even more now that you shared your sentiments.
Phyllis Clarke  Thanks Andre..I had wanted to write at the top - under the picture a a couple of sentences about my kitchen sink, but I just did not know how to do it or if it was possible. I notice you have done this, but I am guessing beforehand? I am glad at least some of my sentiments for Greece are here. :) Phyllis
Andre du Plessis  This feature was available until recently, and then for some reason it was stopped. I thought it was great to have - no need to write 'to influence' before - only afterwards to share and tell more of that particular image. After all, the experience, or motivation to do that capture, or whatever, remains part and parcel of the experience of photography. I find this a real sorry change, and some members have voiced their objection to this totally senseless restriction, but oh well...
Phyllis Clarke  Thank you for sharing this I did not know there was a change actually. In some cases, it is really is important to the viewer to know a little more, about a photo. For example, a documentary shot would be important. In this case, the viewer might believe this to be a clear image of a bubbling brook..not bad at all, but not what it actually is. I think people here have indicated that knowing it came from the kitchen sink made a difference in how they saw the shot. Yet, in Screening I think it might have confused people with a message about the kitchen sink! :)

Phyllis Clarke  Thank you Kirk! I am so pleased that you like the colors and the light. See my comment to Faddoush..as to what makes this light. :) Phyllis
prolixpics  Phyllis - kitchen sink? I laughed when I read that. You might have been at the Mediterranean when you took this picture -- I can't believe it's in your kitchen. Fabulous.
Phyllis Clarke  Thanks again Kirk..I suppose in this case knowing how it was done makes a difference. Phyllis

Amazing abstarct Phyllis, this image is so beautiful and so eye catching/ engaging.
The Colours are fantastic.
Phyllis Clarke  Fadi, I suppose given your Greek heritage, it is fair to write what this is under your post! :) Maybe this piece of marble from a beach on he island of Naxos has your DNA in it! I took it home to NYC, in 1985 because I could not stand leaving Greece. Even when I went to live in Greece, I took this back with me. After six years, of course I brought it back home again, and it is sitting in front of me now as I type.

This is part of a series I did on Kitchen sink photography, using a macro lens, water, a vegetable sprayer to make ripples and bubbles..of course lots of towels to wipe up the water. There is a window directly over the sink, and in late afternoons in winter the light is dazzling.

So glad you like it. :) Phyllis

Faddoush  It is a masterpiece Phyllis and that marble looks like Gold!

So happy to see this published.
