I was there for the 14th april... but i couldn't see the naga babas because i didn't have the press permission. Policemen took us far from the procession and we couldn't take any pictures. So I'm envy of you :)) I love this image!

I really like this picture of the Nagas Prateek!
It's this kind of photographs I like to go to a Kumbh.
And I was expecting and waiting for that you will present here such pictures:-)
After stampedes and chaos at former Kumbhs the police seem to overdo it now.

Very lucky capture wth the orange-clad pilgrim in the foreground.

Prateek Dubey Lucky is a matter of perspective Balazs. I was thinking of ways to get rid of this man from the image, but could not. In another forum, someone converted it to a B/W and in my opinion the missing orange foreground enhanced the image..

Balazs Pataki I agree! This is one of the little things that make India so photogenic - every color has a meaning and add a layer of symbols the image. In this case, pilgrimage. Converting this to BW would be a sin not washed down by a Kumbh Mela :)

Hi Prateek, Congratulation... I also went there when we had a word last month. But could not manage on a major bath day... it was completely deserted otherwise.... and i guess there are few more baths left before this year's kumbh mela ends...Are you in delhi ?.. Can we meet sometime....

Prateek Dubey Thank you Sounak. The next big bath is on the 13th March, then 14th April and then I believe the last day of the Kumbh, which is the 28th of April. I'm in Delhi, will be out of town on the 24th/ 25th. Going to Nandgaon for Holi. Of course we can meet before that.

how i wished to be at the kumba mela (and i love Haridwar):) i was asked by a sadhu to become a his student and be initiated at the mela... couldnt do that but i hope to meet him again. i sat with several nagas as well.. i will post some images of them soon :).. happy to see the Kumba mela through you!!

Prateek Dubey Sasson, you have a chance to attend the 2012 Kumbh at Allahabad. That is a greater spectacle. Here at Haridwar the police is a big menace. Always coming in the way of the photographer. This shot was taken with arms extended overhead. However, thank you so much for your appreciation..
