Great capture, Peter! Good story for those who knew the magnificent bird, and a beautiful documentary shot of one of the last landings. -Jan

This is a nice shot by the explanation the author gives. But there is someting missing in the story, and technically, the composition lets appears a detail that shouldn't be there in the lower right part of the image. Needs a bit more work on the image to tell me a beautiful story. Maybe dramatizing a little the ambient, this could work...
Peter Davidson  Thanks for the comment, Sansonne. In the lower right hand corner just appearing in shot is the wing mirror of another car driving along the road. Perhaps I should have cropped it out, but the picture is more documentary than artistic and flaws such as this are really all part of that. It just happened that way. This was Concorde's last week of flying, I had one chance per day and I was lucky enough to capture this after a lot of failed efforts. Unluckily for me, it was a bland, sunny day with no drama in the ambient lighting. Sadly, it is as it is. Nothing more.

Sansonne  I understand you choice. My comment was only an idea to valorize this beautiful plane. But as a documentary, this is a nice shot.
Thanks for your reply and for not forgetting this plane that has been one of the most beautiful "bridge" from france to US ;)

I am not saying that it is, but it looks like a composite. Somehow the dimensions of the plane and the surroundings don't seem to match. Also the light on the plane seems different. Just my thoughts, sorry if I am wrong.
Peter Davidson  No problem. But if you go to this spot, you can see and photograph other aircraft landing in much the same way depending on glide path and wind. Thanks for your honest opinion on the shot.

That used to go over my old student flat in London every night at about nine, carefully framed by the window. You could hear that deep roar getting louder. . Not flying anything like as low though or the windows would have shaken out. . . ;-) beautiful plane. Fab shot too.
Peter Davidson  Thanks, JBA. Yeah, this was taken just before touchdown over the A30. Notice the lowered street lights. no matter how many times I've seen her, I would always watch as she flew past.

Excellent documentary photo!!!
Peter Davidson  Thanks, Psycho. I miss the old bird ... Never did get to fly her. It took me a week of waiting for the right conditions and for the damned plane to land in the right place (ie where I was standing) to get this. Sometimes I was also too slow and missed half the plane, but in the end it was worth it.
