thats wicked - I love the high contrast black and white. The child playing adds softness to an otherwise very sterile professional environment

Andre du Plessis  Thanks Marius. This was a super duper unpleasant day, and of all my images from that Saturday afternoon in the Docklands, this was probably the only one where it rained less than cats and dogs, as the English say.

You just keep churning out better and better images. How? :)
Andre du Plessis  LOL Been some time since this one, and very few lately. Annoyed for have had little opportunity to try my luck again.
Been at 'home' in SA for a month now, and so little to show for it! DIY and maintenance galore instead. Cheers! Andre

Good one Andre. Canary Wharf? And you didn't get stopped for being a terrorist? They are quite paranoid round there i am told. Maybe they figured that terrorists don't like rain...
Tell me, what time was it when you took that? . . . ;-)))
Andre du Plessis  You know - I aimed everywhere. Stations, buildings, underground, and was never hassled. However, there is CCTV everywhere, and I guess that all the security people deferred to the main control room with the screens. So if the van does'nt come, all should be OK with this monkey getting his camera wet. The time.....Hmmm, I think that it was about 16 before 2 pm.

and forget about the rain :))
Andre du Plessis  ...and have delightful pasta and wine and still go home hating your guts! Thought about our nice evening in that place in the shade on the right, and was silently hoping that you will pick up on this image. Lots of best wishes - the ground coffee was great, and say Hi to Janet.

Great shot....and great timing :-)

Cheers Chris
Andre du Plessis  Hi Chris. Luck of the draw, yes, timing is what it seems to be about. So much more in Street. Sometimes I think that one must rather pick a spot, and forget about the rest. Wait, and go home with many images....all of the same subject. Then, maybe something comes out of it. This day was particularly miserable - weather, and that feeling of getting something worth while was absent. I visited this place twice, took 20 images, and something came from it. For the rest - 200 images, average 2 or 3 of the same subject, and all trashed. What I seem to be (slowly) learning since joining OE is that one has to be cerebral about the potential of a scene, and less opportunistic, and varied. A walkabout starts with an open mind, but somehow one scene will make more sense than the others. Then stick to it, forget the rest, and go home, saturated woth images of that particular scene. Hum, hum....thanks Chris, and best wishes.

Superb! Mood, composition, pov, and the child dancing backwards up the street..!

Andre du Plessis  Hi K-P. Thanks. I have to say, that 'clinical' last train platform shot of yours is superb. I did take pictures of some buildings, but the tones and everything looks like dirty sink water. I blame the light:)

you are a gifted hunter.. in the best sense!
Andre du Plessis  Thanks for that Patricia, but on this occasion my strike rate was very low. Many images over 3 hours, and only one to show. The light was very poor, and lots of rain drops on the lens filter, so the architectural attemps were pathetic, to put it mildly.

Andre - ou - la - la!!!! I am pretty speechless not knowing this place and seeing it here so beautiful. I looked but could not find it on line. :) I love it. I like the light, the wet feeling..I want to know more about it. :) Great great image. My best Phyllis
Andre du Plessis  Hi Phyllis. Thank you! This is the 'new' coorporate/financial area of London. Converted wharfs and plenty of modern buildings and yuppie apartments. It was pouring with rain most of the time, and the wind was very strong - hence this little boy 'spreading his wings' to drift with the wind. I did 2 sessions here and this was after the rain. Here closed down by 1,3 stops to assist with a more natural vignet, which allowed for easier editing, and less clipping on the reflections.
Tim Corbeel 2 years ago
You've captured a wonderful scene Andre! Love the light and reflections on those wet stones.
Fantastic job! Congrats :)

Andre du Plessis  Yeah, I know. Next best was a chap pointing his rolled-up umbrella at one of the clocks, but this little chappie dancing in the wind added more energy to this. Thanks, and regards, Andre
