What kind was the 18-50 2.8? I have a d90 in the market for a lens exactly like that.

Alexandre Buisse  Thanks Nick. The lens is the Sigma 18-50 EX DC. Many of my published images here (including all the mountain ones) have been taken with it, and I can fully recommend it: fast focusing, good constant aperture and excellent sharpness even in the corners fully open.

I should however mention that this image was actually shot with the Nikkor 70-300 VR, I made a mistake (now corrected) when uploading.
