Helpless
This is my mother, not long before she died. It's a tough picture for me to view and share but it shows her - usually carefully hidden - sense of desperation, a helplessness in her frailty in the face of eternity. She had her faith to comfort her, something I don't share but maybe might need.

Powerful portrait of mother in her world full of emotions. I can see fear in her eyes but a pardon, a comment, dignity.

This speaks to how powerful a portrait can be when you have a personal connection. There is a lot of emotion here and for me it's a somewhat bleak image. Personal and moving, thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Reathel

Wonderful picture of your dear mother and I`m sorry for your loss. Think I can feel with you in a kind way because I lost my dear father in july this year. I love the expressions and your beautiful words to the picture. Remember the good memories and wish you the best.
Peter Davidson  Thank you so much, Helle, and my thoughts go to you over your own loss.

Its a beautiful portrait of your mother. She must have been very special to you, so sorry for your loss. If she had her faith to comfort her, she is now in a better place. My father just passed away and I try to remember that, which helps me.
Peter Davidson  My heartfelt condolences to you Ellen. Yes, a difficult time.
Ellen  Thank you Peter.

great capture, wonderful and respectful mmemory. It took a while before I had the penetration of the beauty and intensity in my soul, but once it's in, it is realy fascinating and intense! realy great, bravo!
And, as in your picture of the painter an exquisite use of the light.
I think your growing portfolio will become an intersting place to visit frequently.

What a lovely image of your Mother. I especially like the light hitting the side of her face. She looks lost and quite sad but a face that could tell a good story. Gerard has said it all and a truly powerful image.I am sorry for the loss of your Mother, but I'm sure the memories of her will last forever. Please could you tell me a little about the other image.

Kind Regards Richard
Peter Davidson  Thank you, Richard. Appreciate those sentiments. Do please mail me for info an the other shot.

I have to admit that I had not read your introduction in the screening process Peter, very pleased to see this published, the image is, at least in my own mind a powerful one. Good work. mal
Peter Davidson  Thank you Mal, I really appreciate those words.

For me what struck me about this image in screening was the apparent dignity of this woman her hair smart just coiffured yet her demeanor one of fear even horror & I can only imagine her having altzheimers or dementia (I worked in an old peoples home for a summer in my teens its hard). But that with the light & the contrast it makes an extremely haunting & provocative image that will resonate for a long time. You are brave posting it but for me its an image of great sensitivity that if it were mine it would make me cry everytime I saw it. Well done for sharing
Peter Davidson  Thank you, Gerard, it does indeed bring a lump to my throat. And you are right, she held onto her dignity fiercely - this was a rare moment when she allowed her feelings to show.

I'm sorry for your loss, Peter, and for your mother's confusion, but a brilliant and kind capture of her pain. Lars expressed it better. Well done!
Peter Davidson  Thank you, Jan.

Sorry for your loss! :-(
A fantastic portrait with a lot of empathy, supported strongly by the light - showing fear, despair, the whole range of human reactions, especially when the end is near. Great portrait!
Peter Davidson  Thank you, Lars, it is indeed a tough image for me, glad you appreciate it.
