King Douglas Thanks, Keith. Can you tell that this is not a performance shot? I deliberately lit this with electronic flash to resemble stage lighting, but with more balanced tones than are commonly found in stage lighting. This was shot in a rehearsal studio.

fantastic capture. the continuous lines created by the port-de-bras, the beautiful extension and the play of lights made the picture absolutely perfect.

King Douglas Thanks, Victor. Do you photograph dancers? My hunch is that you have excellent and beautiful dancers to work with.

Note that this is not a "capture" per se as this is photo session, lit by me with electronic flash while the dancer was under my direction--although we collaborated on the pose...that is, we made it look right for the position of the camera.

Biliana Thank you Douglas for your reply! you have a great studio and light almost like in the theatre ;) I was just wondered if here in the category of Performance - One can put studio shots? so I see it is valid! cause I am doing also Theatre Performances, but only alive, during the performance, and my photos are not so good, as yours in the studio! Thank you!

King Douglas The dancer is performing for the camera. I think Performance is the best category as these are performers, no matter whether they are on stage or in the studio.

I am retired and no longer have a studio. Many of my dance photos were taken many years ago.

I visited your website...I'm sure we will see many of your excellent images published on 1X.com.

Like most of my dance photos, the dancer was working under my direction and the lighting was designed by me as well, multiple electronic flash units. The lovely and talented dancer, Dayna Fox, who at the time was dancing for the North Carolina Dance Theater, made my job that much easier.

As I recall, Dayna was pregnant when posing for this photo.
