Ed B: I haven't got lightmeter and this photo was underexposed - that's why... Thanks for your comment :)
Ed Buziak  Hello LeHu... thanks for your response. My occasionally critical comments are always written in order to help, and I hope they did because you have a good eye and a great subject. I've had 35 years of daily darkroom practice so can make a decent print almost with my eyes closed... however, most of what I see on this truly excellent 1Xposure site beats the pants off what I can do... so more strength to all of you who contribute here... I doubt if my images would get through screening! ;~)

OK... here I go again, second time in a row with negative criticism! Basically I like the image - pretty woman, seductive pose... there, that's the typical hot-blooded male reaction out of the way!

But... some of the previous comments about beautiful light, gorgeous tones, top quality portrait... come on folks, look more closely... the contrast is poor; the highlights are just about acceptable; the deep shadows are muddy; I can see horizontal banding throughout the image in the shadows... but enough, this is meant to be constructive criticism because if it was printed properly from the 6x7 negative it should sing!
Jeremy Russell  I disagree.

The tones/ contrast add to the image I feel. Great light and comp with a very nice flow.

I agree the scanning has left some distracting elements but the image is strong enough to survive them without detracting too much from the image.

If presented with a silver print that looks like this, minus the scanning issue obviously, tones etc, I would be pleased.
Bob Patefield  Hi Ed. Fair play to you for speaking up. You obviously have lots of experience. By way of contrast I have very little, but (seen as you quoted my words) to me this is a top quality portrait. I don't agree that every image should be perfectly exposed for it to a great picture. Under or over exposing are valid techniques in creating a pleasing end result are they not? Who's to say what a perfect exposure is any way? It's nearly always a compromise. All that matters to me is that an image moves me in some way. That said I'd be happy to come and spend a few weeks in the darkroom with you so you can show me the errors of my ways. (That sounded kind of kinky ;^) Regards
