I'm not in favour of bull fighting but I am not repulsed by this picture - there are far worse things happening in this world. Anyway, this is a superb image.

As in Spain, Bullfighting is also a tradition in Portugal, where I live. There are a few differences in how it is done, but it's basically the same thing. I am not a fan of bullfighting but despite any opinions I may have I do not think this photo should be excluded from OE (or 1X as it is now called).

First of all, although the rules state that repulsive pictures should not be allowed, that is a matter of taste. OE Screeners, as with all other photos, thought this should be published and so OE (as a community) believes this is not repulsive. It may not be the opinion of all people in OE but it was the opinion of the majority that screened it and that should be enough.

Superb shot. I abhor the barbaric "sport" of bullfighting but this, as others have said, opens up not only our eyes, but our minds for discussion.

good photo. Many very disappointing comments
Lars Klottrup  Maybee because some of us think it is against the rules of OE to publish the picture: '...very repulsive photos are strictly prohibited' ?
Nobody denies it's a technically very good Photo
Ralf Stelander  Lars, if you have complaints about what is published on this site, please contact the site crew directly.
Lars Klottrup  Ralf, I just reacted to the remark 'Many very disappointing comments'
Koen Pieters  "The OE-rules says, that '...very repulsive photos are strictly prohibited'
So the Photographer has a responsibility to judge..."
And aparently he judged Lars. Perhaps he doesn't find his photo repulsive. I don't find his photo repulsive. you find it repulsive. So who's opinion should he follow ? Yours, mine, his own ? the site's ? How is he to know what exactly is for the site just beyond the line of acceptability and what is still acceptable ?
Perhaps the site could emphisize that photos that could 'offend' should have an adult tag or warning tag (and make one), with the possibility for members to filter them out. But delete them ? Just think of all photos that could be deleted if they were to be found repulsive by a member of the site. Not just you, but any member.

The image is spectacular! I agree with Ralf. There are many horrors in this world and we cannot be blind to them. This image alone raises discussion and that is a good thing.

I think it's a good thing something like this is published, because I react very strongly against it. It's part of reality and closing our eyes won't make it stop. Silence is not the answer.

Technically a fine photo, but I find the subject matter offensive.
I realize there are many cultural differences in the world so I'll leave it to others to decide whether this should be published or not.

Photography is very much about reality, whether we like it or not. Some things are more objectionable than others, no doubt. Different people, different perspectives. However one would wonder if pictures may change our attitude, how about image of aborted child, or "fetus" if preferred. Would we react in disgust in the same fashion as with the "Toro" picture? Yes, indeed we like to talk about choices, but seldom anyone mentions the word consequences!
Otherwise stunning image, regardless of your convictions!

I shall never make the similar photo. In spite of its technical quality, it is a horror

Torture of animals in public.
how can they publish this? Disgusting.

what a cruel moment. but i think it is good when people do photograph such moments, just to show other people how animals get killed in some countries. it is not the photographers duty to judge about good and bad.

the photo is tecnically very well executed!
Lars Klottrup  The OE-rules says, that '...very repulsive photos are strictly prohibited'
So the Photographer has a responsibility to judge...
Remo Rufer  ok, i didnt know that

Well executed but really too hard and cruel to me.

It is a great pity that such cruelty is a subject of art and should be published here.
A great mistake in my view

Disgusting 'sport'
Andrei Ionescu  The fact that bullfights may be unethical, cruel or unfair has nothing to do with the value of this photograph. Starving children in Africa or war crimes are not "desirable", but we don't disconsider the photos revealing that, do we?
Lars Klottrup  Starving children and war crimes are not legalized by the government, like this socalled 'sport' is - that's the difference!
Lars :-)
