Although it's quite needless to repeat what others have already said, I must underline how powerful and beautiful this image is (in so many ways).

All the best,

Catalin

not sure how but this one has slipped through my net, very very cool photo. I could imagine this as a trailer to some murder mystery movie, a very emotive image indeed, beautifully captured.

Just thinking out loud here but, I realize that you were a pro dancer and it struck me looking at your performance shots - that perhaps one of your photog friends had captured you performing on stage? Did some photog get some shots of you performing? Would love to see them if they have. All the best. mal
King Douglas  Hey, Mal...thanks very much.

No, I never had any talented photographers out front while I was performing. I do have a few photos--not like my own dance photography, but okay. I don't have any in digital format, but I'll scan a few and let you see them.

I was a good dancer but not great, so I put a lot of energy into photography early on because I was pretty sure dancing wasn't going to be a long-term career and I was never going to be a star.
Mal Smart  sorry for the late reply King, if you have some pics scanned, I love to see them but don't go to too much trouble.

I was going to be the greatest guitarist that ever lived until it slowly dawned on me that I did not have the talent. But I never went on to find something I was good at, I'm still searching! lol

This is so strong! You look like some kind of bad guy from a hitchcock movie. Great work.
King Douglas  Thanks, Jesper. My account was disconnected when you posted your comment, so I'm sorry it took so long to reply.

That is one heck of a creepy garage, thank heavens for not having to park my car there, and that scary dude, jeez!

Jokes aside, this is one stunning image and as always i love your light and composition, so impressive King!! :)

All the best Anne Lene
King Douglas  Thanks so much Anne Lene. The garage just looks creepy in this photo. It's really a clean, well-lighted place. Just that little corner was wet.
Anne Lene Baanrud  Come to think of it, maybe "Beam me up Scotty" would be more appropriate!
;)
Angela Bacon-Kidwell  Well, I'll have to chime in here and agree with Anne, Creepy. But, the man is just down right spooky! HE HE HE J/K
King Douglas  Angela,

It used to comfort my children at night--if for some reason they were afraid of the dark or the things that may or may not be in their closet--that when the lights were out, the scariest thing in the house was Daddy and all the monsters would be afraid and run away.
Angela Bacon-Kidwell  That's sweet!
Anne Lene Baanrud  Lol, good one King!

One of the coolest self portraits i have ever seen. Easily! Very unique look, strong and cinematic.
King Douglas  Thanks very much, Marcus. At last, at the age of 64, I'm starting to get cool.

this is incredible, such a strong and epic image. Almost Godly. brilliant.
King Douglas  How about Kingly? :>)

Thanks very much, Daniel, for the high praise.

Great moody portrait. I love the mist that surrounds you as well as the dampness that it has created on the floor and wall. The lighting too is perfect. Great image.
Kathleen
King Douglas  Thank you very much, Kathleen. I got lucky here. Perhaps I should explain...most of my images are planned, set up and controlled by me. This one, although planned, was not set up nor did I have much control over the conditions, other than multiple exposures, hoping that the steam would be just right in one.

Great shot!
Love the green kind of futuristic tone.

King Douglas  Thanks, Mats.

The green belongs to Angela Bacon-Kidwell. I made this green as a way to tease her. However, I'm gettin such a favorable feedback that I'm becoming a bit embarrassed to have borrowed from her.

wonderful :)
King Douglas  Thank you, Martin.

Very well done! I like the matrix look.
King Douglas  Thanks, Martin.

What is the "matrix look"? I have an aversion to Keanu Reaves, so never watch his movies, except for "Bill and Ted's Great Adventure," which I've decided, long after the fact, was a perfect example of typecasting.

Masterful and inspirational. A truly fantastic image. P.S my garage looks nothing like this! :)
King Douglas  Thanks, Bryan...happy to inspire. It's a six-story parking garage that isn't over-crowded on the upper floors.
Ah! It was yours! :O) A mystery man, almoust with a feel of a man in spirit, bringing some important message to me as a viewer. I like the fog, the light and escpecially that spooky feel.
/E
King Douglas  Thanks, Elisabeth. Don't forget to give Angela Bacon-Kidwell some credit for the spooky feel...it's her color. However, I'm the opposite of a mystery man. I'm more of the open book type.

What a superb shot, King! Congratulations!
King Douglas  Thank very much, Jacob. This was a shot in my head waiting to be captured the next time the weather conditions created this atmospheric scene. I just parked my car, set up a mini-tripod on self-timer and the rest was easy.

King this a great shot, i wish i could have your creativity. All the best in your new proyect...!! X_Tor from Venezuela
King Douglas  Thank you X_Tor,

Don't sell yourself short. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work. I see you don't have a personal website link on OE. Can we assume you are a photographer as well as a lover of photography?

Happy to meet you again,Sire!Well done!
King Douglas  Thank you, lucian.
You copy cat! lol!
I love it! Now find your own color! LOL :))))))))))))))))
Really a great portrait!
King Douglas  Thanks, Angela...I'm so pleased to have perplexed you. I've offered you another perplexity recently, but you haven't yet taken the bait.
Angela Bacon-Kidwell  hmm! off to look
King Douglas  I should just tell you...I don't think you'll get it, and there's no reason you should, really. It's kinda oblique.
Angela Bacon-Kidwell  Ha! found it- I'm pretty sharp- you know :) Having fun today!
King Douglas  Well, anyone with a B.F.A in Painting/Photography has to be pretty sharp.

Who is the Matrix?
Great self so futuristic and cinematic :)

/Anna
King Douglas  Thanks, Anna.

This is a self portrait...is that what you are asking?
Anna Hurtig  Matrix is a very popular movie whit kenau Reeves. Your picture looks like a sceen from yhat movie. My comment was ment as a compliment :)
King Douglas  I never took it any other way. :>)
Thanks again.

Great lighting and composition. It all leads to you... Great mist, or is that your car running in the background?
The green tone sets a nice mystical mood!
Nice to see some new (?) work!
/Thomas
King Douglas  Thanks, Thomas.

This is just steam from my buildings heating unit.

I'm thinking a lot about new work for OE. One newly-created image was published a couple of weeks ago. Although I have hundreds of ideas, I face a number of issues in creating new work:

1. I don't have a quality digital camera and I'm astonished at the cost of film and processing. Furthermore, I have Rolls Royce tastes and a bicycle budget.
2. Now that I've tasted the instant gratification of digital, I resent having to wait for the film to be processed, then I have to scan it.
3. The cost of gasoline to get to and from the lab irritates me.
4. I'm letting my photography hobby keep me from getting other, more important things done.
5. OE rejections get me down.
Bob Patefield  WOW! You get rejected too K? That actually makes me feel much better about my rejections although I feel your hurt. Is there anything more important than photography? ;^) A great image. I always like to see a self portrait. Thanks. Bob
King Douglas  Thanks, Bob. This past week, I've had three images published, nine rejected. I'm probably not alone in thinking that some of my best work is rejected and some photos that I was not sure would make it are published. I find the whole process aversive and am inclined to go back to being a spectator.
Bob Patefield  I understand and often feel the same way. It's hard to put yourself out there to be rejected. That said, I've only been doing photography for about 18 months and this website has certainly made me raise my game so to speak. It is frustrating when you see similar quality images getting on when yours get rejected, but it's such a subjective thing. What I do object to though is, when images are in screening, people leaving comments that equate to nothing more than a kick in the nuts. I recently had a motocross shot rejected. One commenter said 'I teach College Photography and have seen it a million times.' I certainly hope that this 'teacher' is more constructive and encouraging towards his or her students. I think that if you reject an image in screening you should have to give a reason and your username should accompany it. The problem with this though is that people will be less inclined to vote and the whole system could grind to a halt. Any way. I certainly hope you keep them coming King. I think the only way to look at it is that any rejected picture simply didn't strike a chord with enough people on here. Doesn't mean that it's not a world class image. At the end of the day the standard on here is very high so it's great to have even got on in the first place. Regards. Bob
King Douglas  Thanks again, Bob. I agree with you completely and I couldn't have said it better myself.

Wow. Look at all the beautiful green ! Very moody piece! :)
King Douglas  Thanks, Emily. The green, which I call B-K Green, is there for one purpose only...to tease Angela.
