Hi, I just send this photo as a card to my grandmother for her 88th birthday. I wrote to her that each year represented a rose petal. Only after I sent it did I realise the name was "In Time", which seems particularly apt for the occasion. It's so beautiful I can't stop looking at it. Thank you for this lovely image! (and it moved me to sign up to this site so I could leave you a message!)

It almost looks like a painting; Beautiful and creative image with very nice colors!

Great job on the light - together with the roses lines/curves one get´s slowly sucked into the picture... almost hypnotic ;)
I would still be tempted so, to remove a bit of the top or a darkening of the outer leaf, to achieve a yet even better balance from the top to bottom.
Sorry not to have seen the first one, as it could be interesting to see the difference ;)

Wonderful, different, beautiful! Saw it in critique some time ago, but even then didn't know what could be improved, anyway it seems that something was possible to improve, making the picture even more beautiful! Stunning work, Mal! Love it!

I had to go back to the one that you put in critique to really look at the changes you made to this and it is amazing sometimes how only a couple minor things can make or break a photo. The change to the vignette and the darker center really did the trick. Now it looks equally good in the thumbnail and full size. Exquisite.

A very different photo of a rose, it doesn't really fit my own personal taste in flowers all that well, but I have to grant it to you, it is well done, and very effective. Love your work!

Mal Smart many thanks Ursula, yes it is unusual. I can't tell you exactly why, this area is not my speciality, but I have a belief in this image, just call it an instinct that I can not quantify. Its part of a series of images that I took 5 years ago, I may look at the others now. Cheers Ursula. mal

Ursula I Abresch It looks really good on the front page, and I imagine it looks great in real life. I'm glad it's published. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I also like it (in a selfish way) because it is expanding my thinking horizons. :)

Mal Smart since being here at OE, my outlook has changed tremendously, images that I previously gave little time for, I now appreciate in a more educated manner! Flowery macro's were never my thing but when you see a good one, things/ideas can change. When I saw "Fairies at night" my view began to alter from my tried and trusted route of image taking. You are in no small part responsible for my re-think! mal
