About me

I worked for many years in graphic design and now concentrate exclusively on photography. Most of my images combine a love of watercolor painting with digital photography. I shoot most subjects by natural window light only and apply various textures and grunge layers in CS4. These textures are created by combining separate photographs of peeling paint, dirty snow, cracked pavement, etc. For backgrounds I often use a roll of simple brown package wrapping paper or white paper. The final result is a process of techniques that I experiment with as I go along, to see where it leads. Usually the finished photograph is very different from the original intent, but for me that is the interesting part. I also retain some images in a more pure form, as Ive been shooting with film for many years and appreciate the beauty of a simple black and white image. Im inspired by the landscapes of New England, as well as the seasons. Often Im drawn to the least beautiful flower in the bunch, the tattered one that seems to tell a tale......
