I am an Englishman raised in Alaska, college in Santa Fe, early working life in London and Cambridge now seven years in the Gulf state of Qatar.

Qatar is not much of a place for landscape photography and yet this is my main focus. As a flat beige desert with flat white cloudless skies for much of the summer and constant dust it is a challenging environment. I therefore carry my cameras constantly.

I am one of those photographers who has progressed through a sort of reverse evolution. I started seriously shooting with a Nikon D80 and 18-200 super zoom. I now shoot virtually everything with my Nikon F4, FE or my Mamiya M645 and an assortment of old primes. I do this because it is what satisfies my eye and my heart.

I am learning so much every day about how to make good photos and OnExposure is a hard but good school in this as well as a source of inspiration.
