freckles in photoshop
Posted 2 years ago
Hi members,

I had a shoot of a red haired girl, she got freckles to!
Also the freckles are almost the same colour as her skin so it's difficult to see them except when you zoom in, how can I define and make the freckles more visable?

Regards Victor

Speak to Tom Hoops. He is a master of that.

Try taking the base layer, duplicate it. Make the top layer "Soft light" and play with the opacity. Might need a layer mask. Might need a "Curves" adjustment layer in between...

Hi Victor,

I'm assuming that you have a colour photograph in writing this. If you look at the blue channel I expect you'll find that the freckles are the most visible there out of all three (assuming RGB here) channels. If you have Photoshop, one thing you could try is copying the blue channel, then creating a new layer and pasting the blue channel in there, then setting the mode to Luminosity. Doing this will likely make any noise in your image worse, however, so you may need to run some noise reduction software over it to compensate.

Best Regards,
Lee
