Photo colors go lose
Posted 2 years ago
Hello everyone. I have a problem with one of my photos, i´d like to upload here. On my monitor the colors are great, but as soon as i upload this photo: all colors lose their saturation. Can´t imagine what this could be. Maybe you can help me to set the settings up right, so i can upload it without any problems.
Thank you.

Hi Elian,

may be a problem with the color profile.

Go to FAQ > uploading photos. There you find a description.

Hi,you have to tell about the way you upload your shot,so one can understand what is gone wrong.
otherwise ,you could use the photoshop feature Upload For Web and Devices, and choose 100% quality,0 blur, and tick the square of Convert to sRGB.

Hey Frank, yes... i thought it too, so i did set it to sRGB. And i already tried using FAQ, but still: as i upload my photo, all colors go lose. I can´t understand it. Even as i use "Save for Web and Devices" and see the preview picture: all colors lose their saturation. I seriously don´t know, what to do with it.

Hi Elian,

the following info is from another thread:

Maybe the default gamma of 1.8 on a mac is the problem? The rest of the world is using 2.2.

"Changing your gamma setting on a mac is easy: Top Left Blue Apple > System Prefs > Displays > Color > Calibrate and choose 2.2 gamma when asked." - Ken Rockwell and tested on my imac.

I did this and it seemed to help...

Hey Frank,
well, i changed the gamma to 2.2, but the colors still lose their saturation. When i upload the picture and compare the uploaded photo with the original one, i see lots of color differences. I printed this photo ones and it looked really good. But uploading won´t work as good as i wish.

Hi Elian
To me it sounds like a problem with the colorspace used. Are you sure the image is saved in sRGB?

This problem usually occurs when a application (a browser for example) displays an image and make an assumption that it has a certain color profile (sRGB most of the times) but the image is saved with another (Adobe RGB for example). If the browser is not color managed it will show the colors wrong.

Thank you Thomas! That was the problem. I just installed Firefox new, so i forgot to set the colormanagement settings up. Now i can see the photo the way it should be :)
