I've got a 7D - It has 19 cross points which measure very good, and it can shot 8 shots per second - So you would be happy for sure,
it's well invested money - But google or the datasheet would have answered this very easy in a few seconds :)

A late answer, but here it goes:

I read the reviews for canon equipment on www.the-digital-picture.com
And I find them really good and with useful information.

Here is the review for 7d: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EOS-7D-Digital-SLR-Camera-Review.aspx

And to answer your question: this is a fast camera. seems really good for sports:
Canon EOS 7D has 8.0fps
Canon EOS 50D has 6.3fps
Canon EOS 5D Mark II has 3.9fps

I hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hi Tsvetan,
I use a 7D for wildlife photography, the 8 frames per second is great for action shots......and it's much much quieter than the 5D mk11 or 1Dmk111 :-)
The camera was designed as a good all-rounder and for most photographers, it's just that!! It also takes excellent 1080 HD video capture which i have used occasionaly after i've got the photos i want. The video quality through an L series lens is superb and it knocks the socks off most cam corders i've ever owned.
IMO, it's money well spent and if you get one, i reckon you'll agree :-)
Vic.
