Discovering Polaroid
Until that sad day Polaroid announced they would no longer make film, I always tried to take a Polaroid camera into the field with me. Especially when photographing assignments in the 3rd world because as presented the opportunity to give something back to my subjects immediately. My finished photos and prints they will most likely never see, but Polaroid prints were always loved. This photo shows a Grandmother, Mother and Child looking at their family portraits, for hours into the night this continued while they shared Yak butter tea, bread and roasted Yak meat with me as we dined and visited in their tent on the Tibetan Grasslands.

This photo really comes to life through the caption. After reading it I really noticed the laughing eyes of the two women.. It may be a bit cheesy to say this, but it reminds us of some of the reasons for taking photographs, doesn't it.. :-)

You seem to be able to capture people with their guard down, so to speak. It makes for beautiful, interesting pictures.
