Refrigerium is about the need of water for the souls of the dead. The custom in the southern part of Romania is to release light on the water (fountains or rivers) after six weeks since the man died. During the six weeks, four little children carry a pail of water every morning to the neighbours for the soul of the dead. After four weeks, the children are called "witnesses" for the fact that the man's soul has water and light enough to rest in peace. The children get paid for the job and also get bread and cups with water.
