Big Bear.......Big Fish

These big guys are so strong they can walk up Brooks Falls, which actually is a small cascade of just a few meters high, by climbing the rocks.

Shot on Fuji Provia 100F slide film and scanned with the NIkon Super Coolscan 4000ED

Wat een geweldig moment weer, wat moet dat een speciale ervaring geweest zijn om daar te kunnen fotograferen en dit te zien.
Wel een puntje van kritiek, de kwaliteit van de foto vind ik niet zo perfect als ik van je gewend ben. Hij is van kleur niet zo sprankelend en, als ik goed kijk, nergens echt scherp.

Was me trouwens wel ff schrikken, eindelijk kritiek in plaats van alleen mar lovende woorden :-), toen ik je commentaar las........., pffffffffff......, lol!
Je hebt natuurlijk helemaal gelijk wat betreft de kleur en de scherpte.
Er ligt een soort van een waas over de beer wardoor het minder scherp lijkt. Komt vanwege het feit dat hij net uit het water komt en een lichte damp om zich heeft hangen.
Wilde ook de kleur en het contrast niet mooier maken dan het in werkelijkheid was.
Puur op gevoel de foto helemaal gelaten zoals hij uit de scan kwam :)

Harry Eggens Was er al bang voor dat ik jou niet echt kon overtuigen Reggy, maar vond dat ik het toch moest proberen......., lol!
Was cq is wel de bedoeling natuurlijk om nog vele te laten volgen, maar veel "Bad Luck" op dit moment. Ze zijn een beetje uitgekeken op mijn plaatjes. Inmiddels 14 stuks die niet door de screening gekomen zijn.......... pfffffffffff........, :-)

Again my friend, a beautiful capture. I trully like wildlife but this take another dimension with you. Your scenes are so natural, so beautiful.
Love this one. Do you thik they like it smoked as i do :P
One question : how closed are you to take this pic ? Did you take any particular caution, excepted be good at running very fast or really really good in closed combat ?

I' not so sure the bears like smoked salmon although there are lot's of things they do like :)
The distance between me and the bear was about 25 meters, but I was on a platform, on which the bears can't come, by that time.
There are two platforms specially made for photographers over there in Katmai, but except for those two we always walk the same path the bears do and distances have been more than once less then 15 meters.
No caution at all except for the warning to not look the bears right in to the eyes.
Running away from them has no sense at all because they can run as fast as 50 kilometers an hour..........., and euhhhhh......., Close Combat with a bear weighing 450 kilos........ No thank you :-)
