Justin Hofman  thank you A. This day still stands out in my mind as one of the most exciting moments of my Alaska season
Great capture you have here, I like the B/W-conversion you made here. Keep clicking ;o) Cheers, Sass.

My biggest regret from my Alaskan trip of last summer was to not get to see any bear...
You captured an amazing scene here, congratulations!
Justin Hofman  Alexandre, it's always special to see a wild brown bear. If go with local knowledge, you will have a very good chance of finding them. They are creatures of habit and the best people to ask are those who live in the area year-round.

Great capture, he really looks good and confident!!.-)
Justin Hofman  If I was his size, I would be just as confident ;-)

Justin Hofman  Thank you Vic.

Excellent composition, and I like your choice of B&W.
Justin Hofman  Thank you Lars. There is actually a fish weir just to the right of this photo, so I was lucky not to get that man-made structure into the shot. It is disruptive to have sharp, unnatural right angles in such a natural scene.

such a beautiful animal, and so well captured Justin!
Justin Hofman  Remo, you couldn't be more correct. Of all the bears I saw in SE Alaska this summer, this boy bear was the best looking. He had a calm confidence about him that I didn't see in any other bear.

Great capture, congrats. !!
Justin Hofman  Thank you Dare. We were so busy watching another bear that this guy sort of snuck up on us. This is the result.

Justin Hofman  Thank you Joan. And yes, it is very inspirational to see so many wild animals. I had an amazing summer.

Great shot! Very well done.
Must have been a wonderful experience watching her/him hunting.

I had my doubts about the B/W when I saw it in screening, but when I read your explanation I do understand. ;)
Justin Hofman  It really was an amazing evening. This bear was so very calm and he stood on the shore for a long time right next to our Zodiac. Later on a mother and 3 cubs came to fish and this huge boy bear was very respectful and kept his distance. He was so peaceful.

A B/W nature shot? What in the world are you thinking? :) But beautiful image anyway!
Justin Hofman  I hope you're not too serious, Ursula. I really respect your opinion. The river is in a narrow canyon so everything was in shadow. Colors were muted and the water was a muddy brown. I felt the bear and water were too close to the same color.
Ursula I Abresch  Justin, I wasn't serious at all :) I was just teasing (I do that way, way too much sometimes). I love the picture! I love how the bear is on the move, and you can see it, how he (she?) looks very purposeful, and I love the backdrop, not only the water falling, but especially the out of focus branches to the left and top.
