Father and child
Taken for my Brother and his new daughter. This is highly emotive as the Mother of my niece makes it very difficult for him to see her due to a relationship breakdown. Very sad.

Dodge and burn used. 'Almost' black and white (i.e. 3% colour left in image). Slight high pass sharpening on the hands.

It's a very nice and tender work. As you, I like the sharpening on the hands. It expresses the tender contact between the both. (I am french, and it's difficult for me to explain it!!)
Dean White  You speak excellent English. Merci Beaucoup pour votre comments. (<-- bad french).

In all honesty his hands are very rough anyway. He is a hard worker doing about 14 hours a day hard labour.

Thanks so much for the comments. I'm glad you all got the idea of my Brothers hard working life, cradling his daughter.

Thanks for the nice welcome.

I'd agree, just perhaps a touch oversharpened on the hands, but I agree completely with the aim, which you've carried off well - to give contrast to the two bodies.

A beautiful idea for the photograph, and a heartfelt story behind it.
Dean White  Thanks for the comments. I wanted to exaggerate the hard working life of my brother in contrast to his daughters new life.

Beautiful work, the sharpening of the hands makes the image work even better.

Perhaps, just perhaps, too much sharpening on the hands making them look a little unnatural. But a beautiful composition.
Dean White  As mentioned in other replies, I wanted to really bring out the difference in experiences.

Thanks for your comments!

Beautiful and tender; I love the contrast between the parent's work-hardened hands and the baby's soft, blemish-free skin. Wonderful.
Dean White  Thanks for your comments. Truly appreciated.
