This may very well be the best macro shot I've ever seen! The expression on its face, the focus, color, angle etc, etc! Even the sting is there! Fantastic and an instant favourite!

Most wonderful pose of the Hornet and that movement in the wings, which give it a great sense of action, and the warm colors are beautiful

F/16, 100mm, 1/60th sec? Looks like the hornet may have been restrained somehow. Did it live to tell the tale?

Romanas N. They don't fly very fast, instead lingering in one place for a second or two, just enough to focus, shoot and hope for the best (and not the obvious worst). :)

Still, we had a discussion with the author about it in another website, I assured him that this work would pass with flying colors even here, and probably even make it to the first page some day. Half of my prediction has already come true, so I'm as happy as if it was my work :))

Ingo Dumreicher Ooops! :-) A short time, i didn't see who's the photographer... ;-) A bit disappointing that this picture isnt't yours, but nevertheless a masterpiece of Macrophotography... ;-)))

Romanas N. I wouldn't say so, Ingo. To each his own - this isn't exactly what I'd do (unless it was some sort of a challenge), but the work is sure inspiring and awe-worthy nonetheless. Still, it's nice and also sad that you'd expect something like that from me. Makes me think I should get back to being a photographer and get a work published here finally!
