After a busy week in the city, I decided to take the weekend and head north for some quality time by the lake. During my stay, I was lucky enough to have the ever-beautiful Sarah join me. Though, she usually shies away from the camera I was able to coax a few poses out of her. The late afternoon light combined with her beautiful bronze skin made for some fantastic images.

The biggest challenge when shooting people is getting them to forget the camera is there, because, only then will they drop their guard and allow the photographer to make that special connection. When composing any portrait I try to key in on my subject's personality, capturing those special nuances that make them unique. For example, this image focuses on Sarah's soft demeanor. She has a special way about her, very subtle and elegant. Trying to capture that in one frame is tough, though I feel that I was successful on this particular attempt.
