Morning Glow
It was only a matter of time before another lighthouse appeared on here. Living in Maine I find it impossible to avoid these majestic symbols of our rocky coast. This shot is of Cape Neddick (Nubble) Light, which sits on a tiny island less than 100 yards off shore.

As I'm sure you figured out this is an HDR image. A combination of seven exposures created from one RAW file. It is shots like these that make me realize just how important HDR can be in landscape photography. When I arrived on scene I was faced with an almost impossible lighting situation, the sun was rising just behind the lighthouse casting the entire front side of the island in shadow. The HDR allowed me to get the detail in both the island as well as the dramatic sky, in a way that even a graduated filter probably wouldn't have allowed. As always I am anxious to hear your thoughts.

I adore lighthouses, i would like to see all of them, all around the world

Well, varying the aperture like i suggested may not be that wise since it changes the depth of field between shots... I was more thinking about shutter speed bracketing, but I think you get the idea! =)

I love lighthouses I'm booking a ticket to Maine right away... ;) I have encountered the same problem with varying light conditions many times, especially when you shoot sky and water in the same picture. Graduated filters won't solve it I think since they limit the possibilities of composing the frame the way you want, the edge must be aligned with the horizon. Flipping around the exposure in raw files however has the disadvantage that you can lose information in blown out areas. The best solution ought to be take several frames with varying apertures. The only problem I see with your hdrs is that the colors sometimes don't look completely natural, almost like the object was 3d-animated, not so much in this shot, but it's somewhat true about the lighthouse here. It could be other effects of editing too of course. Maybe it would look more natural if you used different shots or if you didn't use as many different exposures in one picture. I suspect you used what looked best here though! Overall I love your hdrs and lighthouses!
