I like the softness of the ice in the water (reminds of me solidified fat in a cold broth), which contrasts nicely with the sharp reflection of the trees. The sharpness of the barren tree branches also contrast nicely with the softness of the background.

I like the shape of the trees, they remind me of candle flames (a nice contrast to the coldness of the scene).

It doesn't seem to be a windy day. The water appears to be very still.

This is really lovely! It is striking, yet very easy and pleasing on my eye.

Very well done - nice to see people prepared to break these so-called "rules" in photography.
