Snow Flake on Mohair
Snow flakes like this only appear when the temperature is about -5ºC; too warm and they'll be big, but not symmetrical, and will melt quickly; too cold and they'll be symmetrical, but really small and not very interesting. This is taken on a mohair scarf, with natural light, at f9.5, and 1 second.

Beautiful composition, color & light.
Ben Anderman  Thank you! I am a big fan of natural light (also I'm too cheap and lazy to buy and then learn to use artificial light).

Ben Anderman  Thanks! I'm trying to come up with a good idea of something to try for this year's snow flakes (this one's from 2 years ago, and I got TONS more like it last year, plus some on other hairy things).

Ben Anderman  Thanks! That's pretty much what I go for in my photography.

I love the toning. The photograph is excellent!
Ben Anderman  I guess we can thank the scarf, and the cloudy day for that. Thanks!

Pretty damned cool.
Ben Anderman  Thanks. It's one of the few things that a macro magnification of 2.74:1 is actually good for (especially without artificial light, which I haven't gotten into yet).
